They haven’t won enough to garner a Hate Team like the others.

In 2003, Romanowski attacked and injured one of his teammates, Marcus Williams, during a scrimmage. Williams, a backup tight end for the Oakland Raiders, was forced to retire after Romanowski confronted Williams after a play, ripped off his helmet, and crushed his eye socket with a punch.[4] Williams sued for damages of $3.4 million, arguing that Romanowski had been suffering from “roid rage” when he attacked him. This argument was later rejected by the judge on the grounds that Williams could not prove that Romanowski had actually used steroids on the same day as the attack. Williams was awarded $340,000. Williams was quoted as saying he and his lawyers “just wanted to prove what was right and wrong about football”"

Likewise with the Saints, there are certainly widespread claims of bounties existing outside the Saints organization all over the NFL, however, the Saints are the ones who’ve been caught.

I hope everyone is prepared for the fact that, just like the Spygate situation, it’s unlikely that the outcome of this issue with satisfy everyone. I would actually bet that most people won’t be satisfied.

I don’t think you can say it doesn’t create a competitive advantage. The Saints coaches obviously thought it did. I don’t care if it’s football, baseball, golf, monopoly, or go fish, if you are doing something you know is against the rules, you have been told to stop, yet you still take the risk of being caught and punished, you only continue doing it if it gives you a competitive advantage. Why continue to do it if you don’t think it gives you an advantage?

For the record, I am a Colts fan. I personally don’t think this had any effect on the outcome of the SB. The Saints won because Freeney was injured in the AFC Championship game and was ineffective in getting pressure on Brees in the 2nd half, and Payton made a great/gutsy call to onside kick and Baskett couldn’t handle it.

When teams are doing things against the rules, you can’t just say other teams are doing it so even if caught there should be no punishment. The real world doesn’t work that way and neither does the NFL.

Nobody has denied the existence of bounty programs. People merely point out that NO was told to stop and didn’t. That is why they’re being punished so harshly. It also has to do with the former players (who apparently ALL had bounty programs of their own). If the NFL gave them a minor slap then it wouldn’t be much of a deterrent. So the moral of the story is “if you don’t wanna get caught cheating then DON’T CHEAT!”

No one ever said Saints were the only ones doin it… But they might have been the only ones doin it after being warned several times by the league to knock it off, and they just ignored the warnings… Everyone speeds…. But you got caught.

You are going to be very disappointed in the future. He’s going to make it eventually. He’s not in now for the same reason Tim Brown and Andre Reed aren’t. He’s in a log jam at the position and caught up in a numbers game. That log jam will break sooner or later and all three will make it.

Just heard him say on Mike & Mike that it wasn’t in warmups, it was after the first play. The story is falling apart already.

ESPN and NFL Network need to start making more exciting hires when it comes to retired players. I would love to see the expert analysis of Bill Romanowski and Lawrence Taylor.
