Carl Gerbschmidt can't help it, he is incapable of saying anything constructive about the Vikings or the people of Minnesota - even though the only reason anyone in Minnesota even knows who he is, is because of his drunken, rambling call-ins to KFAN in the Twin Cities.
Don't worry Carl, we will all still keep laughing AT you during those intoxicated call-ins and we won't hold it against you when you continue to name-call Vikings fans.... We'll just keep feeling sorry for you, as always.

@ thankheavenfornumberseven: The Vikings showed their true colors when they got all miffed about having to pay another $100 million toward a stadium that will boost the value of their stadium 8 times that number. So you shut up and I’ll keep my tax money.
_________

Glad to see you've really thought this out. Obviously, the Vikings are going to be willing to put in a little more dough, but they aren't going to bend over and say they're happy about it. The Senate would have put in an amendment to make them pay an additional $300 million.

And perhaps you didn't understand. You're going to pay that tax money whether they build a stadium or not. The tax is already there. Oh, were you counting on it going away when the Convention Center is paid off? When has that ever happened?

@eegwaybeegway -

Shut up. You’ve already been paying the Minneapolis sales tax to pay for the Convention Center. It isn’t increasing, it’s just going to continue to pay for the stadium. Oh, and it probably amounts to about $1 a year for you.

-----

Nice language. You guys are classy. Oh, and how will they fund the convention center when they start diverting tax funds from it? From other taxes, that's where. Or will it be able to generate enough income to cover expenses? That's a lot of boat shows.

They probably figure they're getting voted out of office no matter which way they vote - either by p!$$ed-off taxpayers if the bill passes, or by p!$$ed-off Viking fans if the team skips town (granted, there likely is a significant overlap between these two factions) - so with nothing to lose in terms of reelection, they've decided they'd rather have as their legacy a new stadium than seeing the Vikings leave.

“The total cost of Lucas Oil Stadium was $720 million. The stadium is being financed with funds raised by the State of Indiana and the City of Indianapolis, with the Indianapolis Colts providing $100 million.”

On Sirius NFL radio ther were saying how Wilf putting up 427 million is the 3rd or 4th largest private contribution to a public funded stadium. I don’t see the Viking ownership willing to spend more then they already offered after looking at what other ownerships groups have contributed to public funded stadiums.

Unless The Wilfs really don't have the money to play like the Krafts and the Jones.....I really understand is that Minnesota is small and the pockets of the legislature are greased by a powerfull few who have the cash....Indians WHY Racino will never get passed, Star Tribune, they own land right next to the dome.
"The total cost of Lucas Oil Stadium was $720 million. The stadium is being financed with funds raised by the State of Indiana and the City of Indianapolis, with the Indianapolis Colts providing $100 million."

On Sirius NFL radio ther were saying how Wolf putting up 427 million is the 3rd or 4th largest private contribution to a public funded stadium. I don't see the Viking ownership willing to spend more then they already offered after looking at what other ownerships groups have contributed to public funded stadiums.

Eegwaybeegway: I'm sure your tired of single handedly supporting all us Minnesotans with your hard earned dollars while we toil away 50 hours a week for free. Thanks for paying all the bills. How selfish of me to fork over a measly 23k annually to the state and want to watch Football on Sundays. Forgive Me and the Vikings for being poor sports. We could never hold a candle to your financial contribution to the states success!

Funny a few fans are not going to vote for these guys yet everyone who could careless will vote for them.

So are there more football fans who want the state to buy a new home for a guy who does not live in the state or are there more folks that do not want there money to build a new home for a very rich man in New Jersey?

If the owner had his way they would be the Long Island Vikes
Deal with it Jerry built a new home
and so did the Giants and the Jets not the tax payers

Shut up. You've already been paying the Minneapolis sales tax to pay for the Convention Center. It isn't increasing, it's just going to continue to pay for the stadium. Oh, and it probably amounts to about $1 a year for you.
