Glad to see you’ve really thought this out. Obviously, the Vikings are going to be willing to put in a little more dough, but they aren’t going to bend over and say they’re happy about it. The Senate would have put in an amendment to make them pay an additional $300 million.

And perhaps you didn’t understand. You’re going to pay that tax money whether they build a stadium or not. The tax is already there. Oh, were you counting on it going away when the Convention Center is paid off? When has that ever happened?

Shut up. You’ve already been paying the Minneapolis sales tax to pay for the Convention Center. It isn’t increasing, it’s just going to continue to pay for the stadium. Oh, and it probably amounts to about $1 a year for you.

They probably figure they’re getting voted out of office no matter which way they vote – either by p!$$ed-off taxpayers if the bill passes, or by p!$$ed-off Viking fans if the team skips town (granted, there likely is a significant overlap between these two factions) – so with nothing to lose in terms of reelection, they’ve decided they’d rather have as their legacy a new stadium than seeing the Vikings leave.

I’ll take anything over another pointless Tebow story

On Sirius NFL radio ther were saying how Wilf putting up 427 million is the 3rd or 4th largest private contribution to a public funded stadium. I don’t see the Viking ownership willing to spend more then they already offered after looking at what other ownerships groups have contributed to public funded stadiums.

Most football stadiums are built with some kind of public monies, even if they’re later repaid. Jerry Jones certainly didn’t build that monstrosity with no assistance.
