Fitzgerald lost a lot of weight the year he had his highest production, when the Cards made it to the big dance. It also helped he had Boldin Breaston and Urban spreading out the field so Warner could utilize matchups. That is what the NFL is all about in the end. Coaches taking players and finding the best matchup for that play. People don't realize it's not all about speed and it's not all about size, it's about the player being a "football player." Guys that make a huge show at the combine and get drafted by Al Davis based on a 40 have not had the same impact as those that get drafted by what they see from their gamefilm. If he is taking his game to next level by training and losing weight, he will be lightyears ahead of other players (no pun intended).

Best WR out of this draft, and I'm not even a lions fan, just a fan of the game (with no favorite team), will be Ryan Broyles....if he recovers and is back to true form. The dude is a stud. With stafford and Calvin along with all the other offensive weapons they have acquired, He should be able to develope into one of the premier slot WRs in a few seasons of experience.

I like the pick by the Bears. I think from top to bottom this is the best all around Conference in the league, based on competition.

He can gain 25 lbs and still be the best receiver, overall, than anyone else on the Bears. He is 6'4" and plays like a 7 footer who can catch anything thrown his way. Don't blame USC's QB problems on him. This kid is going to be a stud!

Here's the real reason Detroit should be concerned. This team was scoring 32 points per game already in the 6 games leading up to Cutler's injury. Now add Marshall and Jeffrey to the mix. They put up 37 against Detroit during that span. I didn't see Detroit address their secondary this offseason and GB has gotten worse with the loss of Collins back there. This offense will be a force this year.

Alshon plays like one WR I can think of.
Brandon Marshall. Who is also a Bear. He could teach him a lot IMO. Cutler has some good targets so lets see what he can do this year.

Could be good. Who knows

Gotta love all the Adonises on here ripping a guy who’s 6’4″ and weighs all of 230, at his heaviest. Really, 230??

Most of the people on here are probably at least that, and between 5’7″ and 6’0″.

The whole weight thing is a joke. Kid sounds like he’s taking this very seriously, and that’s good for both him, and the Bears.

Great pick in the second by Emery. Still not so sure about the third rounder though.
--------------

1. Most or all of the people commenting are not professional football players and their job is not to be in peak physical condition.

2. You have no idea how tall anyone on the internet is, so you look silly for trying too hard.

3. If you saw pictures of Jeffery last season, you'd know he did not look like a WR. He had a big belly and love handles. He clearly wasn't putting in the work outside of gameday. Maybe he was frustrated with the QB situation, but his poor work ethic is why he dropped out of the 1st round.

4. If he stays consistent with his workouts he will be a steal for the Bears. But to pretend his weight and laziness have never been issues, and "support" your argument by calling PFT commentors fat, is pretty weak.

I got to see him play at USC while I lived in Charlotte. This kid is a true talent at the WR position. The only thing that made him slip in the draft was his work ethic. It's great to see that he is making the right decisions and working hard to be a great rookie. Having him paired up with Brandon Marshall and Devin Hester will make the Bears one hell of a receiving core. If Forte is healthy they can go really far this year.

This man is a proven beast and if he can take to the coaching of position coach Darryl Drake he can definitely make an impact.

This is a guy who's 6'3", runs in the low 4.5s, had some of the best hands in the draft, and dominated the competition in the SEC. He had some serious QB issues with SC but with Cutler throwing to him...watch out. And once you factor in Brandon Marshall + Matt Forte + Devin Hester, you have the ingredients to an explosive offense that can't key in on any one player.

It's too early to tell whether Jeffery is going to be a good pick, but he's certainly done nothing since he left college to give me any reason to doubt him. If he can keep up this attitude and weight (and I truly believe the trainers and veteran locker room will be more than enough to keep him in line) then Jeffery has some serious potential, especially as a #2 receiver. Good pick, Emery!
