Though the new Nike uniforms for most teams won’t be changing noticeably, significant changes may occur with a team’s alternate jerseys. The Steelers, for example, have unveiled a throwback uniform that is dramatically different than the third uniform the franchise had been using.
The Redskin on Thursday unveiled an Nike anniversary uniform, which represents a “modern interpretation” of the team’s 1937 uniform — complete with helmets that will be painted to look like they are made of leather.
The uniform commemorates the team’s move from Boston to Washington, along with the first NFL season of quarterback Sammy Baugh, a charter member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The ensemble will be worn twice in 2012, at dates to be determined.

As a Fan, I like them. Hail of a lot better than others I’ve seen lately….Steelers.
They look better than the Packers throwback uniforms, which are ugly….. But still better than the Redskins regular uniforms, which are the ugliest in the league.
At least these new uniforms will keep them in the news when they are 2-9.

I can’t vote on something I can barely see. Come on, Nike, I get that dark colors make the image all mysterious and badass, but at some point, you just need an artist rendering in normal coloration so people can make out the damn image.

Instead of painting on leather, perhaps it’s time they added outside padding to the helmets.

those are very cool! teams should let nike do their thing. not to the extent of maryland last year but those are some cool unis/helmets!!
I like them, but not as much as the 75th anniversary uniforms. The ones Lombardi designed with the R on the helmut.
And since this uniform is designed after what the Skins wore in 1937 it seems reasonable to suggest FSU’s uniforms resemble the Skins throwback.

What I don’t understand, is the NFL’s mush-wit decision to present new uniforms in the Worst Possible Way.
They Could have made a Lot of Money a few weeks ago, when they “unveiled” new uniforms–starting almost 40 minutes late, and THEN, all we saw were blurry wide-angle photos of only half the players–From a Distance!
Earlier, some images were released that appeared to have been processed by a drunken teenager who confused “Football Player” with “Character from Fantasy Video Game,” before ultimately passing out on his keyboard.
They don’t need to “enhance” the appearance of uniforms. They just need to Show them in ways that resemble something a fan would see on a field–not creeping out at them from a dark alley with pockets full of drugs telling them where the Hos are.
Snap the Hell Out of it!
The Skins need to revamp their uniforms. The throw backs look nice, but ultimately its a distraction from the fact that they are a bad team. Hopefully they get better.

Get it right people…FSU and BC look like the Redskins who sported the respective looks long before those schools did. Same with the Spear Helmet throwbacks…FSU copied that look after Washington sported it. No logos on Leather helmets, that’s why no logo now. They also used this look in 1994 for the NFL’s 75th anniversary throwbacks.
And wethog…for shame, the Lombardi Skin Uniforms weren’t the 75th anniversary throwbacks the Spear Helmet and gold pants were.
I like what Nike has done especially with the faux leather finish (thanks jahbird). Cool stuff!

Well, I’m a Packers fan and it sure beats our throwbacks lol.
I love the idea of giving new looks to the uniforms. Unfortunately, as Packer fan, I’ll never see anything as creative as the University of Maryland uniform last year. Loved it. If the Packers came out with something revolutionary and mind-blowing, even for a one-time use…..they couldn’t make enough of them. I like these Redskins uniforms.

It looks a lot like FSU. Better than the tootsie roll helmets the packers had with their throwback uni’s though.
Uniforms look Great!!!!!!!!!!! With RG3 leading the way, the teams feels different and now looks different in a retro way. This is all good stuff.
These are not the best Redskin uniforms but there excellent for the fact they are replicas of the 1937 uniforms and the leather helmet design should be used for now on for throwback plus I’m glad they didn’t us the grey face mask and went with black !!
Predictable, but still hilarious that the people who loathe the Seattle’s new progressive uni’s are the same people who like Florida State’s night game matte uni’s. Oops, I mean the Redskins uni’s.

actually no. wethog is right. the 70th anniversary was the spears. and the (R) logo was the 75th. we went to the playoffs that year.
Very cool look. League should let Nike do their thing…especially with a third uniform that might only get a few looks a year…all 32 teams should have the exact same ‘leather’ helmet for their throwbacks.
