The 19-year-old brother of Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis and 49ers tight end Vernon Davis has been deemed unfit for trial after he was charged with murder on Thursday.

Michael Davis has been sent to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. for a psychiatric evaluation. The Washington Post reports that Davis will be brought back to court after 60 days to determine if his condition improves with medication or treatment.

Davis has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Gary Dederichs, a tourist whom Davis is accused of beating to death with a hammer. Davis has been charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill for hitting other people with a hammer, and police are investigating two more attacks they believe were perpetrated by Davis.

This is the second time Davis has been held for psychiatric evaluation. A year ago he was held for evaluation after his teachers and guardian became fearful of him. At that time, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and “borderline intellectual functioning.”
