Raiders signed Leinart because he knows Knapp’s offense. Pryor came in last year and couldn’t participate in training camp whatsoever and had to play catch up. The Raiders scrambled to get him and a brand new franchise QB around the same time. He was lost in the shuffle almost and really couldn’t get much going last year at all.

This will be his first training camp so he’s essentially a rookie. Those of you who are saying they brought in Leinart as a backup over him and using that as proof that he’ll never cut it are completely asinine. Leinart is a veteran who knows the system. Pryor still has to learn it.

Whatever happened to giving rookies 3 years? A lot of PFT readers are completely clueless about the development of players.

@joetoronto, when the 17 teams with jokes for QB’s want a player, it doesn’t mean they’re great, or even good. There are usually only 10 “top flight” QB’s in the league and 3-4 of those are in the “elite” category. That leaves 22 teams with players at QB who are suspect, at best. Getting 17 interested, out of those 22, isn’t THAT difficult, ask Ryan Tannehill and Brandon Weeden.

Raider fans are delusional. Seriously, this guy was a third round pick in the supplemental draft and Cam Newton was the first over all pick in the draft. Cam Newton had the best rookie season for a QB ever, your guy was on the field for one snap. Cam Newton inherited the worst offense in the NFL and made it a top 10 offense, your guy was on the field for one snap…

So if he’s build like Newton and Tebow, use him in that way. Get him in Goal Line and short yardage situations. Newton and Tebow were almost unstoppable in these situations, the Raiders would be even more scary with McFadden, Taiwan Jones, Ford, Moore using their speed in options, rollouts and Wildcat formations. 3rd and 4th down with short yardage would be a 90% success rate.

I don’t expect Pryor to come in firing the ball all over the place. Have him build his confidence with his feet, speed, size and his strongest assets.

oh Newton fans posting here. Pryor was more accurate of a passer and could stand in a pocket loner then Newton in school. he got on the field for one snap last year… one snap and it was a run play… you’ll all eat these words if he lines up for a full game. Write this down, so when i am proven correct I can gloat.

None of you know if he sucks or not. I don’t think he will succeed as a QB, but until he fails he just has suck potential.

I’m sorry, but do you get hired as a Sales Representative and walk into your bosses office and say “Yea, I think I think I’m going to be a Web Developer here instead” ?

This is their job. He was hired/drafted as a QB. If his managers think he fits in another spectrum of the company, they would have gone ahead and done it. He’s done nothing to discount himself as an NFL QB.

So ultimately, no. It’s not because Pryor isn’t “humble enough”.

Good to hear about his work ethic… the way the whole OSU thing came down he came off like the type that just got by with his God-given talent (see: Russell, Jamarcus).

Everyone discounting him due to his inaccurate passing misses the entire point of sports. If he learns to develop that skill-set, and continue to hit the playbooks/gym, he can be dangerous.

Progression is what separates the best from the rest. Not the tools they walk-in with the first day on the job.

Guy runs like Cam Newton. Problem is, his accuracy is worse than Palmer and Leinart.

He had no problem hitting guys at Ohio State that were wide open against soft coverage. Nobody is ever wide open in the NFL.

Pryor and Ginn Jr together have the I.Q. of an Onion. Pryor really doesn’t think swiftly up in the ole noggin and struggles reading coverage. Hes not an accurate passer at all.

Ask yourself these questions:

1. What else could he say, maybe…..”I don’t believe in Terrelle Pryor” ???

2. They brought in Matt Leinart. Matt Leinart.

If you watched OSU play while Pryor play, tell me how great of a passer he was, and then, think about how good he would be if he could not just outrun all those ends and linebackers in the Big -10?

He will never amount to much as a QB. If he was really humble, he would hit the weight room and have a successful career as a tight end. But I guess most look at that as failure, instead of looking at it is the best use of your skill set so that one can have a successful career.

I saw him play University of Illinois a few times and was never overly impressed with his play. It was better than any of the Illini’s QB by far but that isn’t saying much. As long as he works hard I wish him the best.

My biggest concern with prior was effort. If he continues to work, learns film study from the vets the kid could be dangerous.
