Remember the week before when Rivers actually had the injury in the playoff game when they were losing? As any Plaintiff’s attorney will tell you, this is indisputable proof he has no comprehension of the risks and is entitled to millions in damages from the NFL as a result.

Dude, who is typing for you because if you can't read, you can't write. F-n moron, try reading his quotes. Especially the sentence where he says HE KNEW THE RISKS AND BENEFITS. Honestly, how did you survive so long without getting hit by a car or train?

It's so funny how it only took the tribune seven hours to spin this story into "offensive line corncerns Cutler". It starts this quote and ending with that Cutler like bootleg plays(as if we didn't know he's better on a designed run):

"You know, the offensive line is definitely going to be a concern and seeing where those guys are going to fit in and seeing what five we go with,” Cutler said. “If Gabe [Carimi] comes back, if J’Marcus [Webb] pans out. Where are we going to put Chris Williams? There are some question marks there. Until we really get that resolved, and get our front five settled in, we’ve got some work to do on offense."

Classic tribune only trying to artificially create hysteria to sell papers, I'll definitely remember this if the line comes together this year for the Bears, wether it's Webb or Williams starting at LT.

As a Lions fan who's never really liked Jay Cutler:

This is the smartest take I've read on the concussion issue yet.

Secondly, I appreciate his honest appraisal on the o-line. He's being fair, you can't expect him to give a glowing report on something he can't honestly be entirely happy about.

Thirdly, I thought he played lights out on MNF in Week #5. The best performance I've ever seen a QB have in one of those games where a team's offensive line gets destroyed so bad, even someone who's never watched football before goes, 'wow, those guys are getting destroyed.'

@detroitcityryda:

Sure, I remember the game you mentioned, but even better I remember the rematch...Payback was very sweet that day.

Stafford threw 4 picks and a cheap shot on DJ Moore, Charles Tillman made CJ meaningless, and Devin Hester ran a kick back for a TD...Bears 37-Lions 13.

You forgot that one, didn't you? That's okay, I don't blame you.

Thank you jay, these players get paid millions, I know the stereotype as the athlete being the stupid, but man they really are all stupid if they don't know the risks and the consequences. All I know is that non of the players were complaining when they were making millions, now all of a sudden the big checks dont come in and they are desperate for money, so why not rip off the reason they are successful (nfl).

Peter Venkman says:
May 14, 2012 7:34 PM
Remember when Philip Rivers played the AFC title game with a TORN ACL and Cutler had a very minor knee injury and sat and sulked during his conference title game?

-------------------------------------------------
By "very minor knee injury" you mean an MCL sprain requiring 4-6 weeks of recovery? And as I seem to recall, he suffered that in the first half and then came out in the second half and played for the first series and tried to throw the ball effectively on one foot. By "very minor knee injury" you mean the same injury that Matt Forte suffered this season that made him miss the last 4 1/2 games of the season? Just because Cutler didn't go down screaming in pain or grabbing his ankle a lot of people have this perception that he wasn't hurt and that he's "not tough". You realize you're talking about a guy who plays football with type-1 diabetes, right? Type-1 diabetes means that the body doesn't break down sugar. This makes a person more suceptable to dehydration, lack of energy, severe weight loss, fatigue, blured vision and it can even kill if it's serious enough. Yes, Cutler, like many people with Type-1 diabetes, has it under control with insulin shots but he has a potentially life-threatening disease with symptoms that tire you out and wear you out and he's playing a sport at the highest level with it. Call Cutler whatever you want, but don't call him "weak".

Remember when Philip Rivers played the AFC title game with a TORN ACL and Cutler had a very minor knee injury and sat and sulked during his conference title game?

————————————————-
By “very minor knee injury” you mean an MCL sprain requiring 4-6 weeks of recovery? And as I seem to recall, he suffered that in the first half and then came out in the second half and played for the first series and tried to throw the ball effectively on one foot. By “very minor knee injury” you mean the same injury that Matt Forte suffered this season that made him miss the last 4 1/2 games of the season? Just because Cutler didn’t go down screaming in pain or grabbing his ankle a lot of people have this perception that he wasn’t hurt and that he’s “not tough”. You realize you’re talking about a guy who plays football with type-1 diabetes, right? Type-1 diabetes means that the body doesn’t break down sugar. This makes a person more suceptable to dehydration, lack of energy, severe weight loss, fatigue, blured vision and it can even kill if it’s serious enough. Yes, Cutler, like many people with Type-1 diabetes, has it under control with insulin shots but he has a potentially life-threatening disease with symptoms that tire you out and wear you out and he’s playing a sport at the highest level with it. Call Cutler whatever you want, but don’t call him “weak”.

I don't understand where the alleged rhetoric of retired NFL Players saying "I didn't know there were ANY long term health risks" comes from?? I don't hear too many former NFL Players saturating the media with this logic either... Yes, they are alleging the NFL purposely withheld information about some pretty severe risks... But the logic permeating the lawsuits are the specific way the NFL was treating them, or should I say not treating them. In my opinion, the NFL could have released information... in say 1994 for arguments sake, that concussions are dangerous, serious injuries and they can lead to long term health risks... AND... the NFL could have treated concussions as they actually have from 1994 until now and we would still be where we are at simply because of the gross negligence treatment married with the lack of any serious healthcare post retirement.

Also, Jay... before you open your big stupid trap... think about the fact you are playing in TODAY'S NFL... Let's go back to the last 15 years of NFL football, watch you take some of those highlight illegal shots on QB's and then watch the same stupid dribble come out of your mouth... It would be that much funnier.

Refreshing candor from Jay (both regarding concussions and the o-line questions), and more proof of his toughness...His bashers on here are sadly ignorant of the facts...He has NEVER cried after getting hit, he wanted to stay in the NFC Championship Game in spite of a very real injury, but the TEAM chose to keep him out, and then chose for some reason not to clarify the situation until the damage to Jay's reputation was already done...And Philip Rivers playing on a torn ACL (and thus risking his career) was just stupid, not brave. Just sayin.'
