Three more Falcons rookies under contract

Offensive lineman Peter Konz wasn’t the only member of the Falcons’ draft class to leave the weekend’s minicamp with a new contract.

The team also announced that fullback Bradie Ewing, safety Charles Mitchell and defensive tackle Travian Robertson were also signed to four-year deals this weekend. That leaves linebacker Jonathan Massaquoi and tackle Lamar Holmes as the only unsigned members of the six-man draft class.

Ewing, a fifth-round pick, should have the inside track on the fullback job with the departure of Ovie Mughelli. Mitchell was selected in the sixth round and projects to be a special teams contributor and backup safety as a rookie. Robertson, a seventh-round pick, will probably have to force the Falcons to keep him on the defensive line this summer or hope for a spot on the practice squad if that doesn’t work out.

The Falcons also signed three tryout players. Fullback Lee Meisner, wide receiver Kenny Stafford and tight end Aron White all impressed team brass enough to earn longer looks this offseason. Defensive tackle Ray Kibble did the opposite. Signed as an undrafted free agent, Kibble was waived after his first weekend with Atlanta.
