Titans to host free agent safeties Bell, Crocker

The Titans are in the market for a veteran safety to replace Chris Hope behind starters Michael Griffin and Jordan Babineaux. According to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean, they’ll be hosting free agents Yeremiah Bell (pictured) and Chris Crocker at club headquarters on Tuesday.

The team’s interest in Bell and Crocker, both starters last season who were cut by their former teams, suggests the Titans aren’t satisfied with rookie Markelle Martin and second-year man Robert Johnson in the third safety role. Tennessee also has Al Afalava and undrafted free agent Christian Scott on the 90-man offseason roster.

Bell, 34, and Crocker, 32, should both be willing to sign for something close to the veteran’s minimum.

Bell is an upgrade for any team needing a solid tackler and heads up player. The cover speed has lost a step, but that comes with age. Unlike Rookies, he knows where to be so closing speed is almost moot. I wish the Fins could have kept him. Class act all the way. Good Luck Bell.

Chris Crocker should never be allowed to play football again after his pathetic attempt to tackle Arian Foster. At least dive at his knees or something. Just took it like one of Roethlisberger’s victims.

Agreed on Crocker. I said he shouldnt have been allowed on the plane back to Cincinnati after that garbage effort. People accept failure, but for god sake… TRY to do something.
The single worst play Ive ever seen in the NFL (and that says a LOT from a lifelong Bengal fan)

Bengals fan here, I really hope Crocker does well in Tenn. I was always a fan of his, it’s a real shame the way everything went down in the playoff game. I’m glad he’ll have a shot with another team and won’t have to end his career in such an ugly way.
