The St. Louis Rams announced Tuesday that they have signed free agent offensive tackle Barry Richardson and linebacker Mario Haggan.

Richardson, who turned 26 today, met with the Rams before the draft. Though he is young with starting experience, Richardson (pictured) was one of the weakest offensive tackles in football last season.

Haggan, 32, started for the Broncos in 2009 and 2010 before losing his job to Von Miller last year. He is largely a special teamer at this stage of his career.

If Richardson doesn’t make the Rams roster, he’ll always have a career as a turnstyle to fall back on.

My friends that are Chiefs fans tell me this is bad news. With Jason Smith a week 1 Vanden Bosch, Avril or Suh power rush away from another head, foot (or insert any new problem as well in here) injury away from going down….he may get some significant playing time. I guess with the added picks from the Redskins they are banking on drafting a QB and OT in the next few years?

Maybe they will use him as a guard. Some OL just aren’t meant to play the edge and could still get stuff done inside.

Decent run blocker bad pass protection. Guard could be in his future but wouldn’t be a horrible 3rd T.

Mario Haggan….another former Buffalo Bill still kicking around the league.

Mario Haggan was misused in Denver. He was a poor inside linebacker, but when he was pushed outside into the 3-4 pass rushing linebacker position, he played lights-out, and had a couple of multi-sack games. He’s old but he has untapped potential.
