The Chiefs signed half their draft class last week and now they’ve moved on to the rest of the herd.

First up is guard Jeff Allen. Aaron Wilson of Scout.com reports that the Chiefs have agreed to terms on a four-year deal with Allen, who they selected in the second round with the 44th overall pick.

Allen played tackle at Illinois, but he’s already been shifted to guard by Kansas City. The Chiefs put Allen at left guard during their rookie minicamp, a spot that would put him either behind or in competition with Ryan Lilja. Backing up Lilja (and right guard Jon Asamoah) now and replacing him in 2013 seems like the most likely outcome, although the Chiefs probably wouldn’t mind too much if Allen wound up forcing their hand over the summer.

The Chiefs still have three more draft picks to sign from their 2012 class, including tackle Donald Stephenson who could join Allen as a fixture on the offensive line in the future.
