Football today is so highly competitive and not having many open slots, I am sure that a quarterback who really desires to play will search for an opportunity.

I find it very interesting that Nate Montana is in Buckhannon, WV. This was my mom’s hometown. I always thought of it as such a small town that few people would even be aware of it. I have not always been a fan of football, but became a fan of Joe Montana in the 80′s.

I am only sorry that he has just one year there. I wish Nate all the best.

Has anyone thought that maybe he just wants to play football? Maybe he doesn’t want to go pro? Being under scrutiny all the time might not be what he wants. If he wants to come to Wesleyan, us students here will welcome him whether he plays or not.

I don’t see what the big deal is about where he plays. If you are going to any college for the sole purpose of playing football, you don’t have your priorities straight. Your education should come first. Nate is making a great decision by coming to a great school.

@duanethomas West Virginia is more than just mountains and coal mines. There is not a single coal mine in or around Buckhannon. So stop worrying about his lungs and start worrying about how stereotyping sometimes makes you look like an idiot.

He should have stayed at Montana. With “Montana” written on both the front and the back of the jersey, defenders wouldn’t have known which direction he was going.

If he is looking to make it to the NFL, West Virginia Wesleyan is not the place to go. It’s a D2 college with 1400 people and with very few competitive opponents.

Joe wants his son as the clear starter and being in South Bend that wasn’t happening. A transfer should give him a shot at starting. Regardless of the division, Nate Montana will be taken by someone in the draft with the very slim hope he still ends up like his father. Sometimes it is a strong bloodline that keeps a last name popular, but in this case, Joe just ended up being special, very special.

Sometimes it just isnt in the genes. Maybe the kid had too much pressure his entire life. Soon to be out of football to be sure, if he isn’t already. Those fans at ND turned on him as soon as he struggled.

Good luck, Nate. It may sound like a cliche, but there’s more to life than football.

Sometimes kids of great athletes do well, sometimes they become great and yeah, sometimes they fail.

Of course, they had different genetics from different parents, may not have the same drive, and oh yeah…aren’t the same person as pops.

Nate just hopes to be good enough to play elsewhere, wants that experience. At Notre Dame, it was unlikely to happen.

Wish him and the Irish well.

I’m no GM, but I think Zack Morris, errrrr I mean Matt Barkley would be the one to put my money on as the first QB selected next April. And I have a feeling it will be the Vikings that take him because Christian Ponder will struggle because they have nobody to throw the ball to (except Percy Harvin) and 2 crippled running backs. This years 3-13 might have us thinking “remember last year when we were better and at least won 3 games? Man, I’d kill for 3 wins this year.” At least we know the Packers will go 15-1, heck 16-0 and choke in the divisional round again.
