Why would Allen let a group from Los Angeles buy the Seahawks when it purchased them in the first place to prevent them from moving there and the team now has modern stadium & a pretty solid fan base in a popular niche market.

That’s true to an extent. But anyone who wants to buy an NFL team, just to gut it and move it to their desired city (likely LA) is not going to be eyeing the Seattle Seahawks right now. There are far easier places to make that pitch.

Paul Allen grew up rooting for the Trail Blazers and hating the Seattle Super Sonics. Moving the Blazers to Seattle would be like taking the 49ers and moving them to Dallas. You wouldn’t do that anymore than you would move the Seahawks to Oakland or KC.

Why would Paul Allen sell the team when it’s making him money? The stadium sells out every game, and the fans are some of the most loyal in the league. This rumor has popped up every year and it’s been squashed every year. The Seahawks are not for sale any more than the Trail Blazers.

I live in Portland, nobody cares about Dwight Jaynes.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the teams were for sale, considering Paul Allen’s health scares and mismanagment of the Blazers front office. May want to cut and run, but both these teams SELL tickets. Rose Garden is always slammed, and I don’t know if they squeak in the playoffs but the Seahawks are on the upswing. People make the trip up from PDX to see Seahawks every week, so you’re pulling from 2 major metro areas

I don’t know who boopipes is, but Dwight Jaynes is a respected and accurate reporter. Sure, it’s possible his sources are “messing with him”, but it’s not a rumor that Allen has put the Blazers up for sale before, only to retract them from the market.

Given his lack of success in his sports endeavors, I think it’s highly Allen is looking to sell them. And of course he’d deny it; it’d be bad for business, and it could cost him leverage in any potential sale. OF COURSE, he’s going to deny it.

Pretty unlikely since he built and paid for a state of the art arena in Portland that supports their team better than Seattle ever did for the Sonics. It’d be pretty hard to get your money out of that without an NBA team playing in it. Also anybody that wants to put a team in Seattle has to build an Arena first. As for the Seahawks. They are committed for over another 20 years to Seattle. Even if Allen sells, neither of these teams are going anywhere.

He also is not selling, because, like Cuban, being a Sports team owner does more for your ego than owning a lot of stock.

There is a tremendous amount of misunderstanding in the comments section of this article. These teams may very well be for sale. I would never say never as there is always a price that would lead a smart person to sell.

But to correct the record, there is zero chance the Seattle Seahawks will move anytime soon regardless of the sale of the team. Paul Allen bought the team in 1997 for the sole purpose of blocking a planned move to LA. There is no chance he would entertain an offer — if indeed he is seeking to sell — without a guarantee the team would stay. The NFL would do everything to prevent a move also. There is no advantage in relocating a team that has proven well-supported and with top tier facilities.

He could be angling to move the Blazers to Seattle. I’m just saying…

He’s held the teams for a while now, probably double his money from what he paid for them easily. I expect after a while you get tired of watching mediocre ball, and the thrill of owning a team wears off. I’m sure if he sells, the teams will stay where they are.

This is just a rumor from a guy who wants Paul Allen to sale the Trailblazers. I mean if there was any truth to this we would be hearing names of potential buyers and something more than “unnamed sources” claiming it’s for sale? Paul Allen’s investment company Vulcan, Inc. actually owns the Seahawks, Trailblazers and Rose Garden but not Century Link. According the Forbes (named source) Paul Allen must pay the state of Washington 10% of the proceeds if he sells the team before its lease at Century Link expires in 2029. So that would seem to me difficult to sell the Seahawks as part of the Trailblazers like is being discussed in this rumor? So anyone can say something but that doesn’t mean it’s true or even possible. Here is a better rumor: Chis Hansen will buy the Trailblazers and move them to Seattle.

Exactly like you say, the NFL is the currently most profitable league and there is labor peace. The Seahawks and the NFL may never be as valuable as they are now. If the NFL starts losing some of the many concussion lawsuits the league and its teams may not be worth as much.
