I agree that Colt didn’t have much help out there. When the right tackle is so bad that the left end beats the QB to his drop, you’re behind the 8 ball to begin with. Mix in the opinion that the offense conceptually was horrid, and the receivers dropping balls that hit them on the hands, and you can’t win for losing.

He also didn’t help himself, though. I remember some wheel route that put Hillis behind the secondary wide ass open. Colt spotted him, then threw what looked like a punt in his general direction. The hang-time made Reggie Hodges say, “Damn.” If Weeden was QB, that was most likely a TD. The ball would have went there on a rope, not on a glide slope.

I don’t think we’d be in bad shape if Weeden won the job. Last year he beat Andrew Luck, beat Robert Griffin, beat Ryan Tannehill, beat Landry Jones, and beat Nick Foles. Not too shabby, but we’ll see how quickly he can adjust to the NFL game. And we’ll quickly see if the problem was with the WRs or the QB after all. Either way, I just want the best QB to play.

Poor Colt, the victim of everyone and everything around him. t s not his fault that he coul not hit a receiver in stride 5 yards out on a crossing route.

It is the receivers failt, or the coaches fault, or the weather’s fault, or Hilllis’ fault, right? Nope.. it is Obama’s fault. Obama is the reason why Colt is a bad QB. Blame it on Obama.

I don’t get it. He’s a WINNER and he DESERVES to play. He’s a GOOD GUY who INSPIRES his teammates. He’s won at every level and hasn’t been given a chance to succeed. Its the coaches fault and the receivers fault and O-line’s fault.

Or does that argument apply exclusively to Tim Tebow?

Please, if I may– In addition, how fairly did they treat that kid when Harrison BLEW HIM UP. An entire stadium KNEW that kid was HURT, bad. Pull that on Weeden and watch what happens. I’m not Tebow fanatic but right is right, wrong is wrong. If Heckert is so sure he’s a bomb, send Tebow to the Bucs, a team that WANTS HIM, a city that wants him and is WILLING TO BUILD AROUND AND HELP HIM. Bash him all you want, but somewhere be FAIR. That’s WHY the Browns have SUCKED since the 70′s. Mike Phipps, Brian Sipe, Bernie Kosar were SB talent until Cleveland got them. Think about that for one minute. Mike, Brian, Bernie, Tim. Clevelan SUCKS, but it’s NOT because of QB’s!!!!!!!

Uh, ya, that argument would make sense except that Colt never won a championship in college and he has yet to win anything in the NFL.

Tebow won a national title, an AFC West title, and a playoff game.

Their resumes couldn’t be more different.

The Weeden pick will set this franchise back another 5 years. They should have chosen to ride it out with McCoy for one more year and spend that 22nd pick on something else. You have to consider McCoy was playing with absolutely NO offensive weapons around him with the exception of Peyton Hillis… and he was only good in 2010. With Trent Richardson there and an improved Greg Little, McCoy could take a big step this year.

But, I guess they plan to hit the reset button again and go with the 29 year-old rookie over the 25 year-old with two years experience.

I hope Weeden works out to be everything hoped, but don’t count out McCoy yet. And in the end I think they’ll keep him either way and dump Wallace. At worst he’s younger, with more upside and saves them $1.5M annually….and you couldn’t find a better team player.

….and stop with the soap opera about his father’s comments. If anyone really believes a team makes decisions based on outside white noise, you have no grip on reality.

A developmental guy who was thrown in too soon with little to no weapons. The Browns could’ve built around him instead of letting him drown, and i bet they pay for it. The Browns probably could’ve gotten Weeden in the 3rd round, to boot. Hopefully TR is ready to carry the load.

Why do I get the feeling that all we are doing is re-arranging the deck chairs on the titanic? I am a die-hard Browns fan, but folks this team ain’t going anywhere with either of these guys.. The Browns need Dan Gilbert to buy that team. He is building a long term winner in the Cavs. He knows how to do it. Learner is just what Tony Grossi said he was, and big show is just padding his IRA. He doesn’t give a s##t whether or not this team wins.

He isn’t dumb. When the Browns picked Richardson at #3, Colt was one of the first to send him a “Welcome to the team! ” tweet. When they took Weeden at #22, he was silent.
