APLions receiver Calvin Johnson suffered no Madden curse on Friday night at Comerica Park. Taking batting practice before the Pirates-Tigers game, Johnson hit a ball over the outfield fence.
And, yes, the video of the home run already is on YouTube.
Johnson, who also threw out the first pitch, played baseball in high school.
The Tigers may want him to take batting practice before more games. They shut out the Pirates, 6-0, with a one-hitter from pitcher Justin Verlander.
And that’s the last thing we’ll say about baseball for at least a month.

Maybe the Tigers could sign him. They aren’t doing too hot this year.
he’s swinging pretty effortlessly
He’d be great at stealing bases.
Trade you Tebow articles for baseball any day.
He better be real cautious….so the madden curse doesn’t get to him earlier then expected…
Great WR, but those pitches were lobs.
Calvin Johnson’s a bad a$$. Let’s see him in the dunk contest next.
Is this guy human?!
Beastmode athletes can hit beastmode homeruns.
I only wish I had the natural born ability to dominate.
He is the man!
Pretty cool to see that! Great athlete!
The very existence of Baseball angers me. Can’t stand this time of year… waiting for something to happen in football, only to have MLB games clogging up the tv….
Drew Brees still hasn’t seen solid proof that he hit a homer
Detroit baby greatest sports city of all time
Respect.
“I said I was the greatest before I knew I was.”

Megatron is an absolute beast!
From what I heard, he was a top outfield prospect.
Verlander 1 hitter baby
Detroit is lucky.
Best WR in the NFL. -Megatron
Great Young QB- Stafford
Best Hitter in Baseball- Cabrera
Best Pitcher in Baseball- Verlander
Best Hockey Team for 20 years- Red Wings.
Then you can even include Michigan and Michigan State football and basketball.
That place is spoiled with sports.
Up your butt, Jobu…
Beast!
total monster beast
My only solace for that draft is that supposedly it was Al’s toughest decision ever. Calvin was a beast and I was thrilled when Detroit won at the end of the year to “clinch” Oakland the Calvin Johnson sweepstakes. I thought we needed a big time WR to replace Randy. I thought was a guaranteed all pro and a guaranteed Raider.
It almost happened. I just gotta keep telling myself that.
Once, I was playing behind Megatron on a miniature golf course when he actually made a hole-in-one! It was amazing, and a valid demonstration of his aptitude at real golf, since mini-golf is to batting practice as baseball is to batting practice! Look out, Tiger!!!
Baseball is way to sloooooow!
Athletes like him can play any sport. They are freaks.
Megaton= better athlete than Lebron James
I’m starting to think Megatron could take Chuck Norris.
I heard Megatron once counted to infinity…. twice. He also put the “LAUGHTER” in manslaughter.
And that’s the last thing we’ll say about baseball for at least a month.

Thank god.
All Decepticons can do that!
I wonder if Megatron plays as himself in the Cybertron games
I ate a ham sandwich and drank some chocalate milk for lunch brother. I expect to be in the PFT Rundown list in the morning brother.
Calm down people….Sage Rosenfels was hitting home runs at Twins BP last week. Newsflash…professional athletes are really good athletes.
Drew Brees would like an explanation
The pirates should sign him he’d be tied for 4th on their team in hr SMH.
I don’t care of it was off a tee. Not too many people can hit a baseball 400ft.
He’d have so much range you would only need him to cover the whole outfield.
Chris Carter is not impressed and has 5 better wideouts who can hit longer homeruns.
That’s nothing. TE Kyle Rudolph and QB Sage Rosenfels both hit upper deck homers at Target Field last week when they, along with QB Christian Ponder and C John Sullivan, joined the Twins for batting practice.
c’mon man we talkin about batting practice. if he can’t hit a home run in batting practice, i would have to rethink my view of him as a physical specimen.
We’ll start to see more football players at batting practice. Megatron just one-upped the NFL’s entire wide-out corp. Even if it was just practice. They’re all to competitive not to.

Ya think, thats why it’s called batting “practice” .
This is not a big deal.

Tell it to the judge, who has not seen Roger Goodell’s proof of a bounty system either, genius.
Love his swing, but he would be about 2 for 10 on those BP pitches. I am betting there is a reason he is not playing pro baseball.

Seek some counseling or find a summertime hobby if the mere existence of baseball is the cause of anger in your life.
