Osi’s L.T. Twitter effort falls a few (hundred) thousand short

Earlier today, Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora said that, if he gets to a million followers in one day on Twitter, he’ll buy Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl XXV ring (which Taylor gave to his son and which Taylor’s son is selling) and give it back to Taylor.

Osi later revised the limit to 500,000, with a deadline of 10:00 p.m. ET.

It’s now 10:00 p.m. ET, and Osi has less than 55,000 followers.

The good news is that the stunt allowed Osi to pick up 20,000 or so followers.

The better news (for Osi) is that he doesn’t have to buy the ring.

Osi is so into himself. He will do anything for a headline. Oh and the contract dispute…… your were willing to pay 100,000 for LT’s ring. Very honerable as a Giants fan to offer that to LT.

Like he just couldn’t but the ring and give it back to him anyway?

    Twitter is for twits.

If Osi really cared, all he has to do is reorder a new ring. Any recipient that originally received a ring can order one from it’s designer. Osi can place the order in L.T.’s name. This years Giants ring can be ordered for only $4,000. I’m sure that the older rings can be had for less. This is a lot better than trying to buy the original back, and when L.T. goes to sell the new one, not much was spent on it.

I hope all the people that started to follow Osi on this Fool’s Errand, will delete him, and recognize him for the D’bag he is for this publicity stunt. Shame on Osi.

Concentrate on playing the game, Osi.

Joining twitter would be taking away part of my manhood. No thanks.

It’s just not right that I have over twice as many followers as a man with a Super Bowl ring. Seriously.

I have no problem with with Osi, or LT, but why should I care that LT blew all of the money he made playing in the NFL and the fact that he liked underage prostitutes?

  12. bleed4philly says: May 19, 2012 10:52 PM

Shame on 20,000 people who bought into this crap

Buy the ring Osi. You started this, now finish it.

The Giants won’t make the playoffs this year.

Their fans will realize that the 9-7 Giants need a large infusion of talent to compete with the real contenders in the NFL.

The Giants have a potent passing game and a good defensive line without Osi. They also have a poor running game, a weak secondary, and a below average pass defense.

The Giants were probably the luckiest Super Bowl team in the past 25 years. They were lucky that the 49ers muffed a punt in the 4th quarter and fumbled on a punt return in OT.

They were lucky the Packers made so many unforced mistakes. The Packers beat themselves. The Giants didn’t play great against Green Bay. They simply limited their mistakes as the Packers repeatedly failed to execute on offense. They played smart football. The Packers had a terrible day offensively. The Giants didn’t cause the Packers to play poorly. Green Bay couldn’t get their passing game in sync.

They were lucky when Wes Welker dropped a pass on the Giants’ 20 yard line from Brady late in the 4th quarter. The Patriots win the Super Bowl if Welker had caught that pass. Every Giants fan knows this is true.

The New York Giants will be lucky to win 8 games this year. Deal with it, New York.

He knew he wouldn’t get 500.000 followers. the NY GIANTS ORGANIZATION should buy the ring and give back to LT its the least they can do for a great player that gave the giants his all

  17. kenny328usa says: May 20, 2012 7:07 AM

Ok Osi now are you convinced that no one cares what you have to say? Is this embarrassment enough for you to finally shutup and go away? I’ll tell you what I’ll buy the ring if you delete your twitter account forever

If Osi had Shady McCoy’s money he could afford it. C’Mon Osi, Shady got paid all the money. Say something!! You say something every other time…..

Stupidest comment ever. Even if it comes true (which bearing in mind the Giants play in a weak division seems unlikely), any fan would happily see their team get a “lucky” Super Bowl and then go 8-8 the following year.

As a Dolphins fan, I’d just settle for the 8-8 part of it lol.

One other thing for you idiots that keep saying LT will take the money and spend it on drugs or hookers

LT is not the one selling the ring his son is the one selling the ring.

So keep making your stupid remarks about LT while you know he was better then anyone who ever played on your team.

LT was a train wreak away from the game but he was the master when he straped on that helmet

We’ll deal with things just fine, as long as you can deal with the Eagles setting the bar for themselves at only winning the NFC East, which is all they appear to be capable of. Sadly, it seems to have been accepted by a large majority of the fanbase as well. Don’t worry about the Giants or the fans. We’re doing just fine over here. Can you deal with that?

Nobody is doubting that LT was a great player. He was as dominating as a defensive player could be.

But C’Mon Man! Let’s face it, the guy is a total moron and obviously his son is too.

  23. negs5253 says: May 20, 2012 9:37 AM

Shady should buy the ring and send it to LT. Since Osi is to cheap its almost a slap in his face

From Osi’s standpoint, this was never about LT. It’s all about Osi, Twitter followers and his ego. He cares NOTHING of LT and his ring.
