Agreed. More importantly, Fisher doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would want to make himself look like an idiot. Whatever his lofty personal goal for the team may be, he is not going to share those comments with the media, or put any goal for the team on any sort of written record. Fisher should turn the rams around quickly, but it’s hard to imagine any Ryan-style Super Bowl bluster ever leaving his mouth.

I see a significant improvement, but not 73 sacks. Maybe top 10 in the league, given the new players and competition level.

Chris Long + Quinn are great on the edges, they just needed help at DT last season…enter Brockers + Kendall Langford, which should provide a good interior push (especially with D-line coach Mike Wauffle).

Corner,which used to be a weakness – could now be a strength (BTW florio, they had 10 corners on IR last year, encase you forgot which is a big deal when it comes to pass rush.) The signing of Finnegan is big, plus Bradley Fletcher (Fletcher + Bartell were considered the best Corner tandem not long ago and allowed less than 60 percent competions between the two of them). Then add in Jenkins (steal of the draft IF keeps his head straight) and Trumain Johnson, both 1st round talents who dropped due to character concerns. 4 CB’s all at starting caliber, plus josh gordy was a great find last season and is still impressing.

Add in a d-line push, how dominant Long is, how great Quinn was in limited snaps (blocked field goal, 2 puns, 6 sacks when playing only pass rushing situations and special teams), and some DB’s that can actually cover? Yea, I expect a big jump…and top 5 or top 10 in sacks if the offense improves (which it should even with the new o-line coach, who was great with us before).

Maybe they should aim to just win a few more games. And not get awarded a top 5 draft pick. As a Lion’s fan, I know all about futility in the game of football, and this kind of talk would have annoyed the heck out of me coming off some of our seasons that were comparable to what the Rams did last year. Seriously, this should not be your aim St. Louis.

73 sacks? It can happen, but conditions have to be just right. Your defense has to be designed with emphasis on pressuring the QB to the detriment of everything else. You have to have the personnel to be able to do it. You have to have a lot of sacks against teams that don’t protect the QB well, and you have to have a fair number of those teams on your schedule. And they have to be able to stop the run.
