Before the injuries to the rb’s our D was top 15 in the league. Only after we had to throw the ball every down, did our D wear down and started giving up big plays. I’m pretty sure we were still top 10 in TO ratio. With a healthy Fairley and, Delmas look out.

I can’t believe nobody’s made any reefer cracks yet.

The Lions continuity on offense will make them unstoppable. Linehan is a great OC and the youngstars are going to get better and better. With the emergence of Titus Young, a running game and Broyles returning kicks….watch out.

All you haters out there have to admit the Lions are a feared opponent. No guaranteed W’s anymore.

Strong D line at can cover for a weak secondary. If Suh, Fairley, KVB, and Avril get consistent pressure than the secondary will be okay.

The Lions ALWAYS find a way to blow it. They’ve been doing it for 50+ years. I admit they’re promising this year. Problem is they’ve had promising years before, and they ALWAYS find a way to blow it. Even the most die hard Lion fan, if he’s being honest, will admit this. It’s not always their fault, it could be injuries, players landing in jail, Coaches or players dying, it’s always something. Sometimes it is their fault. Wayne Fontes proclaiming the “Rodney Peete in my quarterback” after Eric Kramer took them to the NFC Championship game the year before is a good example.

Until they prove otherwise it’s not a question of “if” they’ll blow it, but “how” they’ll blow it.

Detroit’s still an extremely talented team though. It wasn’t corners that failed them last season–it was discipline. If Schwartz can harness all the passion of these young players, this will be a scary team going forward, even with some weakness in the secondary.

So many Lions fans were disappointed when the team didn’t address the position in the first round of the NFL draft, and downright baffled when the Lions didn’t take a corner in the second round, either.

No real fans felt this way. Mayhew and Schwartz have been drafting BPA for 4 years now, never reaching for need, and during this time they went from 0-16 to 10-6 and into the playoffs. Any fans “baffled” by any pick by the current staff is still living in Millen Land.

Woodson had to play damn near everywhere. oh and by the way how strong is your O line again? Packers have been really lucky Rodgers hasn’t been hurt yet.. and you really trust Graham Harrell to run that offense

Period, if Leshoure turns out to be the beast he’s been called, and stays healthy, the Lions are going to be a very big force this year. And the CB’s were not as bad as 3 games made them seem last year. When healthy they’ll be just fine.

It’s been said here a few times, but still bears repeating—this average age stat is so misleading and the people that publish it are lazy journalist. A better measurement would be “average skill position age” or “average impact/star player age”. That would give you a better barometer of a team’s window to win. Journalists, quit sitting on your tail and do the work.

Oh and one of the reasons why the secondary was so bad was that damn Wide Nine defense. Philly played it and had the same problems as the Lions albeit because of their LB’s. Namdi looked real bad last year too however

Average roster age gets a funky skew when you have a 42 yr old k, a 38 year old p, a 33 year old backup qb. All the important players outside of kvb and corey williams are under 27.
