Bucs worked out Dallas Clark

Dallas Clark Pic

Though there were early-offseason rumors that Dallas Clark might retire after being released by the Colts, that doesn’t appear to be his plan. The free agent tight end has flirted with the Broncos, Patriots, and Chiefs in free agency, and we can add a fourth team to Clark’s list of potential suitors.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Monday that Clark worked out for the Buccaneers last week. Schefter suggested the Bucs could sign Clark as soon as this week, particularly after news that Kellen Winslow is on the outs in Tampa.

At least based on 2011 performance, the Bucs wouldn’t be upgrading. Clark is 33 years old with health issues of his own, and provides nothing as a blocker. Once a top-flight pass-catching tight end, Clark was a drop machine in 2011.

He would be cheaper than Winslow, though.
