All of this my team is better than your team talk is about as cool as saying my dad could beat up your dad. The Eagles and Ravens are both top franchises. They both have die hard fans. They both have good owners. They both have great stadiums. And most importantly, they are both in the playoff hunt every year. As I said before, these backs are comporable as well. Which one is better? Who cares? They are both great for their teams. Rice will probably end up with a deal very similar to McCoys. However, Rice has a little more leverage than McCoy as he is at the end of his contract. I believe McCoy was in the middle of his. I just can't believe we went this long without anyone saying Lewis is a murderer and Vick a dog killer.

@schmitty : Those numbers for the last 3 years mean nothing cause McCoy was just a change of pace back his first year . If he was the featured back (we still had westbrook) he would have more rushing yards then Rice . He still has more TD’s then Rice

@ Why don’t you compare the TD’s over the last 32 games . I know your obviously a Rice fan , and he’s a great back but dont only put some of the stats out there . McCoy does more & deserves a smidget more , or better yet just give em all the same contract

Ok so take out the first year and go by the last 2-stats are pretty equal. PLEASE show me (Stats aside) that Mccoy is the better back. Same sized contract for Rice

Wait a minute… Am I missing something? Because in what bizarro world is LeSean McCoy better thant Ray Rice? Last I checked Rice led the league in yards from scrimmage and was second in rushing. Not to mention durable and his team goes to the playoffs every year. McCoy is definitely a good back and is up and coming but for all the good runs he makes he loses just as many yards running around in the backfield. He might not even be the best back in his division once DeMarco Murray from Dallas gets back from his injury.

-------------------------------------------

I think you are the one in Bizarro world. You are aware that Lesean McCoy led the league in rushing yards for the majority of the season. And if he werent forced to miss a game, he probably would have won the rushing title.

As for your durable remark...McCoy has missed one game in his 3 year career. And it was a game that was meaningless to him, as the Eagles were already out of the playoffs.

How do you figure he dances around and loses too much ground in the backfield? Have you ever watched him play? You sound like you have no idea what you are talking about.

McCoy averaged 4.8 ypc, whereas Rice was at 4.6

Im not going to say McCoy is much better. But I do think they are comparable backs. I believe if Reid called as many screens and passes to McCoy, he would have had monster numbers too. But he was held in to pass block a ton last season because the Eagles O Line was so porous.

People need to stop with the blind Eagles hate. Lesean is a fantastic back, and no matter how you want to skew your numbers, McCoy would have been at the top of rushing yards if he had as many carries.

As a Steeler fan I can say Rice is excellent and I hope the Ravens stick with him for a while. The rest of the NFL knows that having a good defense and a running game can get you wins in the regular season but won't win you a super bowl. It's a passing league and the Ravens will not be getting to a Super Bowl with Flacco. So yes, please sign Ray and continue to make him the focal point of your offense. Just imagine that offense without him..........

i must be missing something, did i see that the afc north has better defenses? ray rice runs against the steelers, yes a great d and who else?, the bungles the browns and those powerhouse d’s. come on. rice also carries the ball more casue the offence is lacking, so of course his yards are more, but his yards average is lower than mccoy not by much but still lower. demarco murray are you kidding me..lol
------------------------------------

LMAO. How many teams from the AFC North went to the playoffs? 3. That's 3 out of 4 in the division. I'll give you that the Giants won the SB but it took the Cowboys to lose a division game for the Giants to even get into the playoffs. They were what 9-7? Three of the top defenses in the league belong to the AFC North. Don't worry. The Ravens, Steelers, and the Bengals play the NFC East this year. You can get a nice close up of what it takes to play in a real division.

Worst fans huh? I guess if the worst fans sell out every game within a matter of minutes and have a packed stadium even during the last game of the season when there won't be any playoffs. I guess bad fans have a waiting list of thousands of people for season tickets for a team that hasn't won a championship since 1960. I can see why people hate Philly fans. Were louder, more passionate, and more intimidating. We live and die by our teams unlike a lot of fair weather cities who give a nice little golf clap and say maybe next year. Fans like us are easy to hate because deep down you wish you could be half of what we are. Haters gonna hate.

i must be missing something, did i see that the afc north has better defenses? ray rice runs against the steelers, yes a great d and who else?, the bungles the browns and those powerhouse d’s. come on. rice also carries the ball more casue the offence is lacking, so of course his yards are more, but his yards average is lower than mccoy not by much but still lower. demarco murray are you kidding me..lol

-----------------------------------------------

You are missing something. The Bengals finished #10 in rush defense in 2011, so they aren't the pushover you make them out to be. And lest you forget, they made the playoffs last year as well.

And I tried reading your last sentence several times, but I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Are you saying Rice's yards per carry is lower than DeMarco Murray and/or McCoy?

Unfortunately, Ray Rice plays a position that has diminishing value in todays NFL. With Rice halfway into the average lifespan of a runningback, the Ravens are smart not to extend his deal past this season. Look at what Chicago did with Forte and look what happened to Forte during the season. He should be happy with the 7.7MM and test the market during free-agency next year.

The bottom line for Ray Rice is that he is going to be paid handsomely, but not what he thought. McCoy, Rice, and Foster are all very similar type of backs. We can all quibble about who is better, but frankly there is very little separating any of them. Personally, I think Rice is the best because he has to do it every year against the best defenses in the league in the Steelers and now the Bengals. But there isn't much separating all three guys. And that means that Ray is goint to have to "accept" a contract that gives him about 20 million gauranteed and a salary average of about 8 per year. He might think he is worth more, but the market has been set. I sure as heck wish someone would disrespect me with that type of cash.

Nice to see Steeler fans admit that Ray Rice is top tier. Nice class Steeler fans. See you for next years battles.

Wait a minute... Am I missing something? Because in what bizarro world is LeSean McCoy better thant Ray Rice? Last I checked Rice led the league in yards from scrimmage and was second in rushing. Not to mention durable and his team goes to the playoffs every year. McCoy is definitely a good back and is up and coming but for all the good runs he makes he loses just as many yards running around in the backfield. He might not even be the best back in his division once DeMarco Murray from Dallas gets back from his injury.

Over last 32 games:

Ray Rice: 2584 Rushing Yds, 139 Catches, 1260 Rec Yds

Shady McCoy: 2389 Rushing Yds, 126 Catches, 907 Yds

Those seem like pretty comparable players to me. You guys are crazy to put Rice below Mccoy when they are at the very least in the same tier. Numbers don't lie.

mccoy is much better than rice and can do so much more so why does he think he deserves more..he is a good back but not great

Last 3 years

Mccoy-3026 rushing yards-28 td's, 166 receptions-5 td's

Rice-3923 rushing yards-24 td's,217 receptions 5 td's

Care to argue that Mccoy is so much better?

Sorry, gotta disagree with you Eagles fans. I may be a Steeler fanatic, but even I know Ray Rice is at least a top-three RB in the league right now, if not #1. The Ratbirds will definitely get a deal done with this guy, is effective IS their offense.
