One way to make it competative is to have College All-Stars playing against the Pro Bowl players. The Pros dont want to lose that game and the college stars will get a taste of the what its like playing against the best what the NFL has to offer.

Combine the Pro Bowl with the Senior Bowl or Hula Bowl. I think thats a game that will really be entertaining!

Unlike allstar games in other sports, this one just didn’t catch on. First of all, it’s played halfway around the world as an incentive to make the players to want to go. If the incentive isn’t the honor of playing it and having fun, why stage it? After a long, bruising season, players not in the SB want to be left alone and just go home and rest. If the players don’t want it and the fans don’t want it, who does – the network$ and owner$. In a league that has a license to print money, why is this normally image conscious commissioner so reluctant to give up just a couple extra bucks to up the prestige of the league and get rid of this ridiculous post-season farce?

this is a no brainer.. the game should always be played 1 week prior to the super bowl in the same stadium the super bowl is held as a kick off to super bowl week. playing a no nothing football game in hawaii is crazy.

I don’t think nominally increasing the game checks would work, if anything it could make it worse. The players in the pro bowl tend to be mostly stars who are on high wages, plus a few high achieving rookies and breakout players. The last thing you want is 18 players on the field not really trying and the other 4 (those on lower wages) busting their gut, because that will cause injuries and rifts amongst players.

They should replace the Pro Bowl with a game between the losers of the AFC and NFC Championship Games. The winner gets the better draft pick and maybe a compensatory pick. That should make it competitive for a 3rd place game.

What would also be cool but would never happen is a game every year between the worst NFL team and the reigning BCS Champion.

I find it funny how they want this to be competitive, yet insists on 10 yard cushions, no blitzing, 4-3 defense no matter what, and no sort of rush on defense or special teams. They want a College Basketball type of final score with the restrictions on defense and they want the game to be more competitive?

I remember during the 80′s when the winners got 10K & the losers got 5K , and it was a better quality game. NFL players were way more hard core back then, too bad it’s come to this.

The game should be played by only players on the practice squad. They would gain exposure and appreciate the prize money. Fans would be treated to a real football game that could alter the careers of many players. Just a thought

Cam Newtons effort was amazing in the Pro Bowl last yesr. it was like a kid giving a book report on a book hes never read before while giving the finger to his teacher.

The Pro Bowl has become a disgrace. Keep the game unless you can toss them out of the game or fine them significantly for not playing hard.

It should be a honor to be selected, play the game like those that came before you.

Pro Bowl is actually a pretty dumb idea altogether. Think about it, there’s absolutely no where you can put this game during the season that selected players will be interested in. So it will always fall to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th options.

Put it in the pre-season, or mid-season and everyone skips because they don’t want to get hurt at the beginning of, or during the regular season. Put it at the end, and the best of the best who are still contenders for the SB, won’t play…as is the case currently.

You could put it after the SB, but many players want a break then. You could put it in mid-offseason, but players would have to remain in game-ready shape virtually year around.

Either way, you’re going to have lots of people missing. So just get rid of it, Pro Bowl teams have zero time to get a playbook down, and zero time to build a rapport with their teammates. Makes for stupid football.

It’s funny to read all the negitive comments on a game that “no-one” cares about, because it always out ratings everything else it’s up, as long as it’s showing the beaches and pics of Hawaii.

I’ve been at every one that ever was played in Hawaii. I’ve met a lot of the players and family’s and they all LOVE coming here. Too bad the game has to be played, but it’s never been played at full speed, ever. It just got worse last year.

Of course, I’m for it staying out here as it’s the only game we ever get to see live, but last year was a joke, just like NBA, NHL, MLB and NASCAR (who’s Charlotte race this year was beyond a joke, with JJ ‘racing’ 1/2 a lap behind everyone else for 80 laps then winning) —

So, given that EVERY all-star game is a joke, what damn difference does it make that this one is not ‘real’ enough? Don’t watch it if you don’t like it.

The Pro Bowl has been garbage from it’s creation. The only good moment in the whole history of the Pro Bowl was when Sean Taylor (R.I.P) levelled the punter. So in all the years it’s been played there is only ONE good hight light. Just get rid of it or bring back the QB/skills competition, that was at least a little entertaining.

The ONLY way they should keep this
“garbage truck of a football game” is to host it wherever the superbowl is being played…. only schedule it for the weekend before the superbowl.
