Ross admits the “criticism does sting”

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has been the target of ample criticism during his relatively short time as the man in charge of the team. And unlike those with high profiles who contend that they ignore the things said about them, Ross concedes that he hears it, and it hurts.

“You’ve got to believe in yourself . . . anything in life. However, the criticism does sting,” Ross told CBS4 in Miami on Monday.

Ross also is learning that the strategies that work in other types of business don’t necessarily lead to success on the football field. “I’m a developer,” Ross said. “So I’m looking at property and I have to have a vision. In football, it’s a lot harder to do.”

The fact that he’s figuring out that football is unlike the industry in which he made his millions and/or billions is the best news that any Dolphins fan could hear. It means that Ross is starting to realize that it’s not as easy as it looks, which could persuade him to stop looking for quick fixes.
