The Seahawks may be down a backup offensive lineman for the first four games of the season.

Howard Balzer of ESPN 101 Radio reports that tackle Allen Barbre has been suspended four games by the league. There’s no word on what league rule Barbre may have violated to lead to the suspension.

Barbre played four games for the Seahawks last season without making a start and was expected to be part of a competition for reserve spots this offseason. The Seahawks currently have 15 offensive linemen on the roster and the team has added veterans Alex Barron and Frank Omiyale at tackle. Barbre’s possible absence for the first quarter of the season won’t be of great help in the fight for places on the roster.

Barbre was a fourth-round pick of the Packers in 2007. He’s also spent time with the Dolphins since entering the league.
