Seahawks were approached about Hard Knocks, said no

John Schneider, Pete Carroll AP

We can add one more to the list of teams that have decided not to appear on Hard Knocks.

Seahawks G.M. John Schneider said today on PFT Live that the team was asked about its interest in appearing in this summer’s installment of Hard Knocks, the HBO show that goes inside one NFL team’s training camp, and that the Seahawks declined.

Schneider said the Seahawks weren’t formally offered the spot, but that when they were approached, they decided they didn’t want to do it. The Jets, who had a highly entertaining stint on Hard Knocks two years ago, are widely believed to be the team HBO would most like to have on this year’s show, but G.M. Mike Tannenbaum said on PFT Live last week that they haven’t been formally offered the show.

The Texans, Redskins, 49ers and Falcons have all reportedly turned down Hard Knocks. As good a TV show as it is, it’s easy to see why: NFL coaches and general managers aren’t in the business of making good TV shows during training camp. They’re in the business of getting their teams ready to win games. And having cameras in every meeting room could easily serve as a distraction.

The one team that has said it’s interested in participating is Jacksonville, which is glad to take all the attention it can get.

As a Lions fan I wish they do Detroit. We were a talented, undisciplined, pot-smoking mess last year. I’m still not sold on Schwartz as I think he encouraged the “push the envelope” mentality and it got away from him with so many penalties and personal fouls.

We’re not gonna have a Hard Knocks this year, everyone is saying no.

  3. rc33 says: May 23, 2012 12:52 PM

Jacksonville’s gonna get this by default.

I’d ask Jerrah again. The Cowboys are always good for some drama.

Then, one day, a single team raised it’s head from the Neanderthal mists and saw the future. Life would never be the same in the land of dinosaurs.

This one surprised me. I thought Pete would be all over it.

If it was set in Seattle it would be entitled, “Gentle, But Firm, Knocks.”.

As a Jags fan, I want my team to turn down the Hard knocks as well. Those folks are embarrassing the jags team. The Jags keep soliciting their interest for the Hard Knocks and HBO seems to overlook and offer every other team which eventually rejects their offer. In the end the Jags will be the only team available. Before too long, Jags should withdraw their candidacy.

Jets, jets, jets. Geez, with Tebow as team leader and Rex as ringleader and Sanchez biting his nails to the quick, a new season of Hard Knocks with them would be better than dinner with Florio!

Thank the Lord, imagine seeing Pete Carroll, wearing his pom poms, going all rah rah over nothing.

    No thanks.

That was the answer I was hoping to hear as a Hawks fan. Would love to see a little more of the behind the scenes of my favorite team, but it’s shown to be too much of a distraction for other teams in the past. Love the show, but nothing to see here.

The NFL should be picking the teams to participate in Hard Knocks so that every fan base can see their team. It would be nice to see teams like the Giants, Pittsburg, Chicago, New England, 49ers, Philly, Greenbay etc. Everyone knows the only way some of these teams will ever do Hard Knocks is if they are obligated to do so.

This is getting depressing. Just give me a team any team. Nothing better than hard knocks to get you pumped for NFL in the late summer.

WHY ARE THE BUFFALO BILLS NOT MENTIONED FOR THIS. SIGNED A BIG FA IN SUPER MARIO, YOU GOT STEVIE JOHNSON WHO IS NOT SHY. YOU GOT A HARVARD QB IN FITZ. A GREAT STORY IN FRED JAX….LOOKS LIKE A HOMERUN TO ME….

    nobody cares about the CFL

With the QB position up for grabs, this is not time for the Hawks to be doing Hard Knocks, I also think Schneider/Carroll like that no one is paying much attention to them, because this (or next year) could be a breakout season and a good time to keep things close to the vest.

I would love to see Chicago or Buffalo do Hard Knocks this year. Atlanta & Detroit would be good options as well.

What does Cheat Carroll have to worry about distractions, they are not going to be a good football team.

  23. lennydpocketqb says: May 23, 2012 8:15 PM

Buffalo is based in sadness. No one outside of the few who still reside in that iceberg will watch. The rest of us will not acknowledge the show.
