Sanchez, Tebow stress competition

We’ll all go insane if we scrutinize every Jets practice all summer long for any sign of Mark Sanchez strengthening his grip on the starting quarterback job or of Tim Tebow taking the job away. But after a day of Organized Team Activities at which Sanchez seemed to have the lead over Tebow, both Sanchez and Tebow talked like men who want to compete this summer.

“Absolutely, it had a competitive vibe,” Tebow said of today’s practice. “It was a lot of fun. I feel like we have a very good pace – getting in and out of the huddle and getting a lot of plays off which is something that coach Sparano stresses. So we want to have a good tempo. I feel like we were very competitive. We were trying to make plays – trying to execute. A lot of guys are learning the offense for the first time. It is understandable if some of the different flaws or mistakes or mental errors here and there because it is the first time a lot of us have ever run these plays. It will constantly just get better every time.”

Sanchez said he puts more pressure on himself than Tebow could put on him, but he too said he sees the value in competition.

“Everybody’s demeanor today was competitive,” Sanchez said. “It was good to see that vibe and talking to guys, guys were pushing and competing to the very last second with everything they have and then they pull up at the last second to protect the other guy on the other side of the ball. So that’s good. I think we have great competition going on offense and defense, it’s good for us.”

Sanchez’s agent, Brian Murphy, may have been the most competitive person of all, writing on Twitter that the media members who are writing about the competition are being silly because it’s obviously a competition that Sanchez will win.

“No offense media, but of course Sanchez is going to out perform Tim T,” Murphy wrote. “Mark is a franchise quarterback and Tim is a great athlete.”

No word yet on whether Tebow’s agent will get into the competition as well.

I wish the two could have played each other back in the BCS national champ game. Tebow may have been the star of Florida, but USC had the No. 1 defense. Better than 2011′s Alabama. Vegas had USC ranked No. 1 and Florida at 2 and USC beating Florida. However, the BcS chose Florida vs Choklahoma

Hey Sanchez! If you consider Tebow competition you’re finished before it’s started. Consider this your audition for whatever team is looking for an inconsistent slight mediocre pretty boy qb. GOOD LUCK TO YOU SIR.

Here’s the only thing you need to know about the jets: Like Tebow, Sanchez is still a below average qb, although he’s less of a delusional, religious nut job.

Tebow’s life is basically Conan the Barbarians life. Including going east for exotic women like Lolo. The Wizard: He did not care any more… life and death… the same. Only that the crowd would be there to greet him with howls of lust and fury. He began to realize his sense of worth… he mattered. In time, his victories could not easily be counted… he was taken to the east, a great prize, where the war masters would teach him the deepest secrets. Language and writing were also made available, the poetry of Khitai, the philosophy of Sung; and he also came to know the pleasures of women, when he was bred to the finest stock. But, always, there remained the discipline of steel.

Spoken like a classic weasel agent. In this guys world, perversion of the truth is paramount. He’ll be a Senator later in his career.

Doesnt really matter who starts, Jets will be grounded this season!

  8. captainwisdom8888 says: May 24, 2012 8:02 PM

There’s no question that this job is Sanchez’s to start the season, he’s been their guy for years and he knows the playbook alot better than Tebow.

BUT….after Mark stumbles and Tim gains a strong grasp of the Jets offensive scheme, Tebow will take the starting job and start stringing together victories and the NY chapter of Tebowmania will begin. If you think the Jets brought this guy in to Wildcat a few times a game than you’re grossly mistaken…

Everyone is doing a great job of assuring Sanchez he is the guy thus far, because we all know how easily this kid’s spirit can be broken. The NY media will be calling for Tebowmania before week 5 and Sanchez is going to be left with a sad look on his face on the sideline with a clipboard.

Religious nut job? I’m not a huge Tebow fan, but attacking him for his religious beliefs is pathetic. Christians are some of the most charitable and generous people in the world. Do you think Atheists or Christians do more volunteer work for the poor and marginalized?

    Since when?

Sanchez will fail and Tebow will be worse. Jets draft a QB next season in the 1st round.

Charlutes is a delusional, anti-religious nutjob. Nice bigotry Charlutes. Say that about a gay and you’ll get banned.

Watching those two battle for the Jets starting Qb job is gonna be some high comedy. Like watching two old men slap fight over the last tapioca pudding in the old folks home. One has the accuracy of a crosseyed tourette’s sufferer and other hears linebacker’s footsteps in his sleep I bet Jets fans have one bigger question than who’s the starting Qb, more like “how did it come to this?”

Elway and Steve young had worse passing #’s at this stage of their NFL tenure. I won’t say I have faith (cause sky gods are imaginary friends for grow ups) but I do believe Tebow and that crazy work ethic of his will become a very good starter in this league. Who cares if he talks to invisible friends/all powerful creators in his spare time.

    ———————————-

He’s the guy because he’s the incumbent and has the big contract. It has little to do with the playbook considering they have a new OC with a whole new system.

“Absolutely, it had a competitive vibe,” Tebow said of today’s practice.

Strange…Tebow made no mention of ‘passion, juice, or ball’. Perhaps that can only be part of the Josh McDaniels experience.

(Tebow, on his meeting with McDaniels at the Combine:)

“I was jacked leaving that room,” Tebow said. “I didn’t even want to visit another room. It was not enough time. We were excited, we were enthusiastic. There was passion. It was just intense, and it was ball, and it was juice. The juice level in that room was high, and it was awesome.”

I’ve always thought that was one of the dumbest quotes I’ve ever read.

Yeah, some atheists are hell-bent to prove their too good to go there.

  22. thegreatgabbert says: May 24, 2012 11:11 PM

Murphy went on to add that Sanchez would outperform Tim in bed as well, since he is an experienced pedophilic serial predator, and Tebow is still a virgin.

  23. thegreatgabbert says: May 24, 2012 11:19 PM

Sanchez will join the USC alumni club in Oakland as the third stringer behind Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart. But at least he’ll be the youngest of the three.

writing about it. You don’t have to write about what’s going on inside Jets camp every single day.

All I know is that Mark Sanchez went to two straight AFC Championships, and Tim Tebow was last seen buried under the New England Patriots pass rush with a near punctured lung.

Suffice it, to say Sanchez will start, and Tebow will be there for the occasional Wild-Jet package.

I am a huge jets fan. Having your pr -slash agent write their is no competition is weak. First of all everyone looks better in shorts and a helmut. Lets see what happens in games. Sanchez leadership qualities are weak and this is where tebow is at his best. So only time will tell who will be the starting Qb regardless of the lame comments from sanchez’s cheerleaders!

  31. omniusprime says: May 25, 2012 9:07 AM

Mark Sanchez has no competition for the starting QB job. Teblow has proven that he belongs in the women’s lingerie league, not the NFL. Teblow doesn’t have the brains to be a starting QB in the NFL because he’s too stupid to know how to run a real pro offense, just the college gimmick pansy offense.

Teblow will find out the hard way it takes lots of studying and hard work to be an NFL QB, not a song and a prayer!
