APDuring the rare quiet weeks on the calendar for NFL head coaches, three of them will be devoting their time to a late colleague and friend.
Per the Associated Press, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, Rams coach Jeff Fisher, and Texans coach Gary Kubiak will participate in the “Drive for Dinger,” a golf tournament that will raise money for the Heimerdinger Foundation.
Mike Heimerdinger, a long-time NFL assistant, died last September after a 10-month battle with cancer. He worked for the Broncos, Titans, and Jets.
A dinner and silent auction will be held June 28. The Vanderbilt Legends Club hosts the tournament the following day. More than 30 celebrities will participate, including Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.
The Heimerdinger Foundation raises awareness of cancer treatment options and healthier lifestyles.
Donations can be made through the foundation’s website.
