It’s not that we couldn’t keep Wright. It’s that he’s basically the main reason we lost that Saints game in the playoffs. Watch the gametape and you’ll see him regularly blowing coverages and missing tackles. He was awful and if your only choice is to pay an awful veteran to do the same crappy job that you can pay a rookie to do, and then hopefully coach the rookie up, then you go with the rookie.

I don’t get why the mainstream media keeps saying this same thing about Wright.

We’re not BETTER without him, but we’re certainly not any worse, either.

Lions have a few million in cap space ($4m?). If we extend Avril, we can reduce his 10.6M to something a little more manageable. I don’t know if Jenkins is any good or not, but we could really use another vet.

Whatever Mayhew decides is fine with me.

@kpow55 he isn’t a head case more than he is somewhat injury prone. His coverage isn’t too shabby, he did make the pro bowl a couple years ago.

The CB’s improved when Eric Wright left. He was terrible, which is why they didn’t bother trying to keep him.
