I live in Middleburg, don't drink PBR (prefer Bud Light), I'm a 10 year season ticket holder, just re-uped for another 3 years on the 30-30 plan, have paid for every year with MY money and I don't give a crap if they win or lose. It doesn't affect my life one way or the other. I go for the game day experience, fellowship with my friends and all the people we have met, the tailgates, and most of all to support MY team win or lose !!!

And by the way, I pretty darn intelligent myself...I can pick a bandwagon fan out from a 100 yards....and you sir, apparently own the copy rights !!!!

GO JAGS !!!!!!

Your “I won’t miss you either’ and “short but” comments just show you are an immature brat. Grow up. Don’t buy tickets. We don’t want people like you in the stands anyway. We want real fans.
----------------------------------------------

Seems like I called it. Of course your response was "we dont want people like you....blah blah blah". Thus I stated "I wont miss you either". Do keep up.

And I am rather intelligent, thank you. Its something you are obviously missing. I stated "Alas, my concern isn’t about Tebow. It’s about mediocrity on the field." Yet you somehow missed that and went on a Tebow tangent.

People who do understand football; people who have played football, do not like the product on the field. Maybe if you understood football versus the tailgating and getting drunk with your Middleburg friends (Pabst Blue Ribbon Yo!) and *actually* studied the game and put on the pads, you would be in a position to deride me.

But youre not. In fact, people like you make the game less interesting. But please, rip on Tebow as you down another PBR. Its all you know.

Than I'm sorry that you aren't very football intelligent. He's a terrible player and we want to see a team that wins, not some bench rider holding a clipboard. We definitely need a competitive team, that I agree. Let's see what happens from here on out. I believe in this team. I go to the games FOR the games and have been a diehard fan for years.

You had me until you mentioned that Tebow wouldn't sell tickets. You can say he's bad, can't throw, etc but to say he wouldn't sell tickets in his hometown is borderline short bus.

Alas, my concern isn't about Tebow. It's about mediocrity on the field.

People will not re-up for this mess on the field. I actually go to the games to watch professional football; not partake in some social scene. I want to see competitive football.

If this team plays like they have for the past few seasons, I will reacquaint myself with the local redfish. And to follow up your response to this; I won't miss you either.

I've had season tickets for years and I've the 30/30 plan and & I'm renewed the 30/30 plan. My company doesn't pay for the tickets my daddy doesn't pay for my tickets. I do because I want to support my city and support are NFL franchise which I'm a major fan of.
Tebow would've been nothing but a Band-Aid for ticket sales and has all much lower ceiling for development than Gabbert for being a prototypical drop QB. Which is what the modern NFL is predicated on now.
These changes being made under Khan ownership are taking this franchise into a whole open realm of possibilities for the team's future in Jacksonville.
But at least he is trying he is doing everything possible sank or swim two-way street with us fans and him the owner for having good management who hires good coaching and talent.

I just happened to renew my tickets for the 3 year plan and know a very large group of people who did as well. I'm proud to be an 8 year season ticket holder without owning my own business, corporation or having "daddy buy my tickets". I SUPPORT my team and my city with the money I spent. I make it work.

And anyone who mention Tebow shouldn't even be watching the sport. He would do nothing for ticket sales. For those of you who can't grasp that concept, research studies WERE done on that prior to his draft. Go find the information.

@therillist–you lose all credibility when you bring up Tebow
-------------------------------------

Somewhat agree. However, he is correct about a better product. This team has blown for the last 10 seasons minus one. All the new season tickets that were sold two years ago as part of the three year deal is up at the end of this year. That's tens of thousands of tickets.

If we have a 5 win season, watch those renewals drop. Who wants to spend $300 a game to watch amatuer hour?

Yeah, I get it. You guys are the "real" fans. But for the rest of us out there that dont have a corporation or our father buying our tickets, it's too expensive of a proposition to watch bad football.

Either the team gets better (ie...firing Gene Smith would be a start) or hope for an "Angels in the Outfield" type moment.

But dont worry Therillist, Tebow will be cut by the Jets before the beginning of the season.

Arguing over the depth of "fandom" is about as dull and endless an argument you can get. To me, the problem with Jacksonville has always been the fact that the NFL chose to put a team there in the first place. You've got a small market (1.3 million metro population is puny for an NFL team) rammed into an area that has probably historically been served by the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, and to some extent as they came into the league at about the same time, the Carolina Panthers. Long-term, I'd bet that they eventually move as this is not a market the NFL would lose anything from.

Is it really comparable? The Royals have 81 home games a year, vs the Jaguars having 10.

I am not making a statement one way or the other. Don't get me wrong...I for one like the Royals. I have been to a KC Royals game several times, and had a blast each time. In fact, KC is a great city, which I visit for business several times per year. I enjoy it every time I visit.

Not your bro, or your homeboy.

I have been a season ticket holder since day one, so spare me the story, junior. Maybe when the franchise gets ride of the fake idiots like you, things will be much, much better.

It is more than the product on the field. It is the memories of spending time with my dad at games. It is the tailgating with friends. It is the event itself. Win or lose, that is what makes a fan, "homeboy." If what you need is solely a quality product on the field to justify your season tickets, then it will not work, and frankly us real fans don't want your stupid a--! Every team has ups and downs. Every team wins and loses. Don't make it personal. This team owes you absolutely nothing.

What this team needs is more "homer" fans like me, junior, and less fake fans like you. In fact, go away! We don't want you.

As for the pace of ticket sales....call the front office and ask them.

As for Wayne Weaver and Anheuser-Busch saving the bacon...are you aware that 30% of most NFL teams' season ticket sales are corporate based?

Didn't think so. Learn a little before you look more like an idiot!

We are not on a record pace selling tickets bro! I like your passion but lets keep it real homeboy....we should have had at least 5 blackouts last year, but Wayne Weaver and Anheuser-Busch saved our bacon!

I'm an 8 year season ticket holder, and until we get rid of the mass of homer fans like you, maybe this team will be forced to actually provide the real fans with a reason to buy tickets. Like a quality product!

"Here’s the difference: the Redskins capacity used to be more than 91,000, highest in the NFL, with a horrible game day experience for fans. It is now about 79,000 with a somewhat better game day experience. No tarps, no blackouts in either case."

It is amazing how when the Redskins do the same thing, this site makes no issue of it, yet when the Jaguars do it, this site spins it negative.

Why is that?

Let me remind everybody that the Jaguars have not had a blackout in years, and season tickets sales or on a record pace right now.

Suck on that!

emma333 says: May 28, 2012 1:19 PM

Resizing is really a good idea to bring the capacity of Everbank into a realistic range. The Jaguars have consistently sold 62,000+ tickets for the past two years. That is about the size of an average stadium in the NFL. Why is this even an issue for the national media? Why are we still seeing the same comments about a bad fan base? Oh, and weren’t several thousand seats removed from the Redskins stadium….What is the difference? Are they in danger of relocating?

It isn't the fans or the Stadium. Its this sorry arse organization and a decade of losing! There were many opportunities in the past to bring in marquee exciting players to excite the fans/win games and they choose to "work the plan". My question is, with ticket sales looking really bad again right now....what the hell is their plan? Is it really to stay in town?

Also, the only reason we didn't have blackouts last year is because the OWNER bought the thousands of extra tickets to avoid them.

No matter what side of the argument you are on, everyone knows that if they really wanted to remove those tarps, they would have used that third round pick that they wasted on a PUNTER to bring a certain HOMEGROWN very popular QB back to town!

And that is the ultimate slap in the face for Locals/fans who are currently NOT BUYING TICKETS!

I think the Jags just need some star power. Even some of the worst teams have some star power:

Browns- Haden, Thomas, and now Richardson/Weeden

Rams (and I'm a Rams fan)- SJack, Long, Laurinaitis, and Bradford (hopefully)

Vikings- Peterson, Ponder, Allen

The Jags have Jones-Drew and who else? I honestly cannot name one defensive player besides Tyson Alaulu. Maybe Blackmon will help.

That and a new color scheme. I'm not a big fan of the teal.

The problem isn't the Jaguar fan base or the stadium, the problem is the antiquated blackout rule. Only in rare occasions when a team is a few thousand tickets away from a sellout does the blackout rule have any affect on ticket sales. Most of the time, it only punishes a local fan base who are making sound economic choices with their entertainment dollars by choosing to watch a game at home. Jacksonville should be able have a stadium big enough to host the Florida-Georgia game without having to worry about not being able to watch their local NFL team on Sundays.
