I'm not sure I seen a comment address this...Manning said he turned Harbaugh down. Remember? He said it was one of the toughest parts of the whole thing. So whose lying? Harbaugh or Manning? I find it odd he's waited 2 months to claim that Peyton is a liar! All you 49ers fans who think Singletary was terrible and Harbaugh saved your franchise...you just wait a season or 2 more. He just took Singletaries cake out of the oven and iced it. THat's all last season was. Harbaugh is too self centered to be a great coach. Whoever put him in the group with Rex Ryan, Jim Schwartz are exactly right. These are guys who can't control theirselves who think they can somehow control a locker room. I don't want any of the 3 coaching my team!

@seahulk.....you are one of the most moronic and bitter fans I've ever had the displeasure of hearing from. It is kinda funny. You guys "stole" Charlie Whitehurst away from SD to be your QB of the future....you pulled in Tavaris Jackson to be your bridge QB. You dogged Matty Hass out the door as a washed up has been. How'd those 3 decisions work out bro? At least with Hasselback you were in division contention. So before you start talking about "game managers" stop for just a minute and realize that one would be an upgrade for the gulls.

Is there seriously a Raider fan above talking about another coach or franchise being arrogant?! For the love of everything holy! Your franchise built their entire reputation on arrogance! Al Davis had swagger before it became a trend. It turned on him in later years for sure, but you had to admire the gusto. Also didn't your team just fire the worlds most arrogant human being? Hue Jackson went from Head Coach to wanting to be dictator of the franchise! I laugh at the absurdity of your mindless comment!

As for Coach Harbaugh.... Its all semantics and in the phrasing because he could say that pursuing PM would've meant extending a contract offer which as far as we all know never happened. Word play? For sure. I said then what I say now. The gamble wasn't worth it.

Another funny thing is that fans beyotch about Belichick's demeanor with the media and the same fans beyotch about Harbaugh and Rex. They can either be bland or themselves. Please pick one...and then realize that your opinion doesn't really matter. :-)

i'm noticing something about josh alper, he doesn't research his stories before he writes them:

"The 49ers held off on negotiating a new deal with Alex Smith until after Manning chose to sign with the Broncos, something else that led people to think the 49ers were interested in signing Manning."

WRONG. alex had a contract in hand weeks before the peyton manning saga started. he chose not to sign it due to some language issues in the contract.

to make matters worse, peyton manning and alex smith are represented by the same agent. it's not a stretch to assume that either peyton manning or tom condon initiated the meeting due to the impasse with smith.

real niner fans in the bay area and around the world know that harbaugh made it perfectly clear that he wanted alex smith back.

alex going to miami had more to do with posturing as a free agent more than anything else.

i'm not sure where all the hatred comes from towards harbaugh but you can't ignore the truth that by alex not signing the deal he had in hand, he forced the team to look at all options.

if peyton was looking for the deal he got in denver (clearly he wanted the same money he had before), there was no way that the niners were going to accommodate him. that would mean cutting 7 players some of whom were pro bowl or all pro players. not gonna happen...

H's lying about not "pursuing" Manning, but he's not lying about his intentions of keeping Alex and bringing in Manning. Alex has already confirmed he was coming back regardless and would have loved to "compete" for the job. Even went as far to say as "who says I wouldn't have came back and been the back up?" LOL. That's just the type of guy he is I guess.

First off , mjkelly You and only YOU think hairbow is either clever or insulting. You're still bitter the Niners beat your team and or that we beat the team that beat you in the playoffs.

Then there are the Raider fans who want to seem relevant by insulting the better team across the Bay. They talk smack about Alex when their QB is the interception machine Palmer.

And then there's the Seahawks fans. Which I can't insult any further other then saying your team is the Seahawks.

Yeah Harbaugh put his foot in his mouth but the majority of teams would trade for him as head coach in a heartbeat.
