11 years, but that has nothing to do with my opinion on Rg3. Some conferences and schools produce consistent NFL talent and some consistently do not. What’s the old saying? The only thing history teaches us is that we never learn from history?

It took on it’s own look (much of the teams running spread offenses) and since then it has struggled to produce elite talent. Adrian Peterson is the lone example. Sproles I do not consider anything but a no.2 compliment RB.

It’s not hating on RG III, it’s being honest with the facts. RG was a fine college QB, but he wasn’t even close to being as good as half the QB’s from the Big 12 who have already busted out in the NFL. Just remember this when the season begins. If RG III becomes a superstar in the NFL, he’ll be the first QB to come out of the Big 12 who ever has.

I not saying you were hating on RG3, I have no idea what your position is on him one way or the other. The only issue that I have is your evaluation of talent and completely summing up his success based on the conference they play in. A recruit can only run the offense that it’s coach tells him to run, it doesn’t mean the player no matter what conference he plays in doesn’t have the talent to play in the NFL.

You may not think highly of Darren Sproles, but as a defense the Mike and Safety better make sure someone has a hat on him when he’s on the field. Cedric Benson and Ahman Green are/were pro caliber RBs out of that conference and DeMarco Murray is a young back to keep an eye on. Dez Bryant is a receiver you better keep in front or stay step for step with. As does Jeremy Maclin and Wes Welker. Mark Clayton also had a nice career in the NFL. These guys are all NFL offensive contributors to their team. Just out of curiosity, and this doesn’t mean anything one way or the other, but did you play organized football?

Just goes to show how desperate Redskins fans are for a decent team and stability at the QB position after years of ineptitude at the position. I really wish RGIII success at QB because he seems like a genuinely good guy, unlike Leaf, Young, or Vick.

While there is some validity to that point, and there’s no way to argue that there hasn’t been something of a revolving door in Skins country, the tone of this comment suggests that the Redskins have consistently been a joke of a franchise since Theismann went down.

Though tennesseeoilers is essentially correct that Washington hasn’t had a long term answer at quarterback since Theismann, that should only serve to make Joe Gibbs’ coaching career and DC’s two super bowl wins during that period even more impressive.

Additionally, the author’s reasoning behind using the phrase “several years” instead of “two -and-a-half decades” is both to avoid creating controversy and discord with readers over the exact issue I discussed above, as well as to point out that since around 2000 (in other words, since Snyder), the door in Washington has been rotating significantly faster than it did in the 90′s (under legitimate ownership)

It’s sad to see someone who wants to talk trash so badly, but is too dumb to even be able to incite a reaction.

This guy’s name is “skinssuckazz”,not “dallassomething”, “phillysomething” or “nygsomething”. Obviously his only goal here is to harass and demoralize Skins fans. Therefore anything he has to say will be taken with a grain of salt. If his name simply had something to do with supporting any other team, his comment (to be fair, a well-written version of his comment) could be taken as “fighting words” and spur the aggravation and angry reactions from the Washington fan base he is looking for.

However, as his name states he has no reason to be on PFT other than annoying Skins fans, no one is even bothered by his remarks. If he was actually smart about it, he could really bug and bum out DMV residents by naming himself something like “skinsmaniac” or “haildc” and making the exact same comments.

Alternatively, he could grow up, learn both football and how to communicate effectively with others, and write paragraphs like lolb23′s above which actually do bum out Redskins fans. lolb23 frequently bashes Washington, and I seldom agree with him, however, his trash talk is carefully thought out and well written, and I have infinitely more respect for him than bozos above like skinssuckazz, indywilson, digitaldonnie, or peytonsneck.

Again I don’t get the logic, but then you go out and say that the Big 12 doesn’t produce ANY NFL offense caliber talent. Really? Roger Staubach
Ben Rothlesberger
Phillip Rivers, Terry Bradshaw, Barry Sanders I could go on and on with RBs and receivers.

First and foremost, no superstar QB has ever come out of the Big 12. Ever.

Chris Sims (Texas), Vince Young (Texas), Sam Bradford (Oklahoma), Colt McCoy (Texas), Josh Freeman (Kansas St.), Blain Gabbert (Missouri).

Bradford and Freeman are at best on the bubble. Could bust, could make it. But right now they’re struggling in the NFL. The rest, busts. Anyone think Gabbert looks good out there?

And these are just guys who were drafted in the first round. It’s easy to forget other Big 12 QB’s who were stars in college, but went undrafted or fizzled out quickly in the NFL like Chase Daniel (Missuori) Graham Harrell (Texas Tech).

If you look even closer, you’ll see that LT’s from the Big 12 bust in the NFL too. Jason Smith (Baylor) and Russell Okung (Ok State) the latest. Their WR’s don’t do too good either. Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech) is under-performing for his hype. Can say same for Dez Bryant. Go ahead and add guys like Jeremy Maclin, Limas Sweed, Roy Williams, Mark Clayton and several others WR busts to that list. Only Jordy Nelson can be called a success in the NFL coming out of the big ten at the WR position over the past decade.

To summarize, the Big 12 simply does not produce NFL caliber players on offense. History teaches us this.
