How many years ago did the Ray Lewis thing happen? He wasn’t found guilty of murder yet there are plenty of Steeler fans who call him that whenever his name is mentioned.

For the record (although I’m sure you & others won’t believe it) I am not some other forum member using an alias nor am I a Ravens fan.

The biggest reason I continue to bring up Toothlessberger’s shady history is because there are far too many Squealer fans who continue to praise this guy. The Steeler fans and the organization continue to support this guy despite his words and actions just because he helps the team win.

I dare say that if Lucifer himself was the Steelers next QB he would be cheered on by Pittsburgh fans just so long as the team won and “Lucy’s” less-than-stellar conduct (words & actions) off the field wouldn’t turn those fans against him.

I’m glad this guy isn’t on my team. There are plenty of great QBs that don’t act like a drunken frat boy. There’s an old saying that one is judged by the company they keep. Well, he’s not the type of person I’d wanna hang out with so why would I want him leading my team? I want my team’s QB to be someone I have no reason to be ashamed of or have to make excuses for his juvenile behavior. That’s 1 reason why I’m not a Steeler fan. I’d have to sell my “sports fan” soul to support this clod and no amount of titles is worth it IMO.

But Steeler fans are willing to support this train wreck. So be it…

If Steeler fans wouldn’t kiss his ass so hard & make excuses for him & basically worship him then maybe others wouldn’t feel so compelled to constantly point out his many flaws…

But whatever he is doesn’t change the fact that evidence shows the two (and only two) women (not young girls) who accused him of rape were lying. One texted friends the next day she couldn’t wait to see him again then a year later sued him for $3 million, and the other had a medical exam showing no sex occurred.

False rape accusations against prominent (and not so prominent) figures is a common occurrence. As someone who’s really been there and known many others who’ve been there, it’s almost impossible for me to sit back and watch liars portrayed as victims. That has nothing to do with Roethlisberger … and everything to do with my own life experience.

No one’s crying about anything. When Ben has done stupid things (e.g., the motorcycle incident), he dug his own.

What’s obnoxious is that it’s the same arguments from the same mindless fools two or three years after the fact. When people aren’t coming up with anything new to say, they start sounding like a broken record. It’s pathetic and obnoxious.

Because he’s been so successful and doesn’t want to cramp his style, Ben hasn’t worked as hard as some others (Brady and P. Manning) at perfecting his game. That’s why after appearing in three Super Bowls and winning two people still debate his “elite” status. A QB with his natural talents should have progressed more. And his style causes him to take too many beatings. A lot of that is on the lousy offensive line–but not all of it. If he doesn’t learn to take more calculated risks as he gets older, he’s going to wind up with a shorter career.

Ben needs an OC who can stand up to him, make him work harder, and help him channel his gifts. Arians was not that guy, but I believe Haley can be. Hope I’m right.

That has been my thought exactly. I’m also hoping that the switch to Haley has brought more focus and priority to Ben on his own development, and that Haley is able to find the best ways to get Ben’s talents utilized without him taking such a beating.

His ability to heave an 80-yard bomb for the TD while getting blasted by two defenders is awesome, and the main reason he will never see the field when he turns 35 (or earlier). He MUST change, or he’ll be forced to retire sooner than later.

Not saying anything to the rape/bathroom comments, other than to say that the authors of said posts should be grateful that natural selection is no longer a factor.

I was SHOCKED to see Haley brought in by Tomlin. This will be an issue during the season.

Makes no sense to me.

Let’s see…

1. Some possible drafted studs on the OL, check. Better protection for Ben. May not have to run for his life to still get the time he buys when he does. Likely result: more positive plays with less downside bad ones. Better production, less mistakes.

2. New offensive coordinator, check. Causes confusion for opposing defenses who can’t game plan for prior style. More use of tight end, fine with me. Likely result: more unpredictable offense, tougher for opponents. Ben and Haley will get along just fine, as professionals do.

3. Quiet off-season for Ben, check. No bad off-field problems. Something to prove after way last season ended. Likely result: Ben is more-focused and out to succeed and excel. Media twiddles their thumbs and have to stick to asking about football matters.

4. Same Steeler haters wasting their “valuable time” on a story about team and player they hate, making the same old and incorrect jokes, check. They are worried about the Steelers probably going 12-4 this year and winning another Super Bowl, need a distraction or something to convince themselves of what they say might even be true. Likely result: they continue to be morons. Watch Steelers move through playoffs while their team is done after regular season is over.

Word I’m hearing from reliable sources is that right now they are practicing a lot of running with a view to have improved effectiveness during the season. The idea being that they take better advantage, not necessarily increasing the amount of carries. I also understand that Haley plans to break the Arians trend of running on first down. Every first down.

It’s funny that he didn’t have this much to say back when he was being the Don Juan of the public restroom. But one coaching change and the guy’s mouth runs like a whippoorwill’s tail.

Shut up already! Just do your job and play…

Apparently you don’t listen to many QB interviews. It doesn’t have anything to do with leadership. Quarterbacks, like wide receivers, just want you to give them the damn ball. They’d be happy to pass on every down. At least this one is aware that the Steelers fan base likes a more traditional smashmouth game.

Good point, but these comments don’t have anything to do with Ben’s history, real or imagined. His accusers were a hotel worker several years older than he was and a 20-year-old hitting the bars wearing a pin that said she was “down to f*ck.” Even if those accusations had been credible, how do you get “pulling little girls by their pigtails” out of that? They’re picking that stuff about Ben with minors out of thin air. It’s scary to think what’s on the minds of some of these commenters. The deviance seems to be theirs.

Cards could not defend against it. Did you see that Wallace dropped a TD pass on the prior play? Ben should have been the MVP of that game IMHO. He led them down the field with time running out to win the game. Case closed.
