Jerry Jones OK with Dez Bryant returning punts

When Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was injured last year while returning a punt, owner Jerry Jones wasn’t happy about it. But Jones now says it’s OK with him if Bryant is used as a punt returner.

He’s quite a weapon,” Jones said of Bryant as a return man, “and I’m for using him.”

Jones said he doesn’t oppose using starters on offense or defense on special teams, but he does want to make sure that those players get enough practice time in that they’re able to handle all of their responsibilities.

“I have no issue with us making business decisions relative to him returning punts,” Jones said. “What I do want him to do is to get enough repetitions so he can have a sense of fielding them and when to field them and when not to field them and make those kinds of judgments, but I like him back there to use him when we’ve got a long field or a chance for a return.”

Some might ask why the owner is having anything to say about what should be a coaching decision, but the reality in Dallas is that Jones will always have something to say about everything. And Jones says he’s OK with Bryant returning punts.

    Hey, Jerrah.

The only “returns” Bryant should be performing is bringing back the bling he hasn’t paid for.

So is the rest of the NFC east…Dez is so overated…his biggest catch thus far was in OT last year for a first down when the cb fell down! Go ahead jerry put him back there! He will be hurt by week 3! Oh and um change the name to Dallas Jerry’s boys!

Maybe they can take a trip to the mall and get kicked out by security.

Is Jerry OK with him not wearing thigh and knee pads? After all, it wasn’t a bad coaching decision to have him return punts. It was a moronic attitude of “i’m slower if I wear thigh and knee pads” that got him hurt last year.

Jerry Jones showing just how much value he’s placed in his own coaching staff. Again.

If Dez gets hurt on a punt return, you’ll hear JJ say; “Who’s the Idiot that put him back there on punt returns????”

And this my fellow Cowboy fans is why we will never see another SB ring until the man dies.

He’s made some (positive) noise when on ST, but a starting-caliber receiver with the talent he possesses should not field punts, period. Especially when so injury prone.

At least he didn’t get a concussion last year; that would have involved having a brain.

Been tellIng cowboy fans for years if u draft Dez to return punts then let him but if u drafted him to be a wr then why is he returning punts. Cowboys will relearn that mistake in the matter of a few games along with cards and Peterson. When I player is more valuable as a every down player then keep then off special teams. Look at the best returners in the game Hester and Ginn. These guys r the players that won’t be missed on offense if hurt on returns

Ok I’m sick of this new fad with calling football players “weapons”.

As a long time Cowboy fan I wish jerry Jones would just shut up and go count his money. When will the window close on this guy ?

Hey Joe… both lawsuits involving bling were settled last year. Where have you been?

There’s a reason they won’t be missed on offense. Neither is much of a WR.

might as well get something for his money.

Dez would get injured returning a library book.

I see there are some non-believers. Google “Dez Bryant Eleow Hunt settled” and you will find that the second and last bling lawsuit was settled last November. The other bling lawsuit settlement involving A+A Diamonds and Rafaello Company was reported on PFT in April of 2011.

Jerry Jones = The next Al Davis

Jones won’t trade Jenkins, Jones okay with Dez making returns etc. etc. How much more proof does anyone need to see who coaches this team? Since Jimmy Johnson got the credit for the Superbowl victories, which made Jerry mad, he has set out to prove it is he that should have gotten the credit. For some 15 years now he has assembled and disassembled teams and the result is one playoff victory.
Cowboys fans should publicly decry the man by demanding he let the coaches coach and sit down and shut up; just keep signing the checks and stay out of sight.
