These guys are putting their bodies on the line for a limited window of earning potential. Give this loyal Saint a long term deal. This guy is the unquestioned leader of the squad and you need him now more than ever.

For a QB as good as Brees, this should be easier, it should be done. The Eagles and Broncos were able to pay their quarterbacks and you could argue that Brees will probably have the better career over the next five years. Pay the guy what he is worth

You mean paying him more then those guys (per year)? Can’t be considering that the offer was already made.

Drew will get done but to those who say pay the man you either don’t understand that the Saints have very little cap space and the structure will be important. Once you get into structure the process get’s thorny. If you believe the reports that they are $2 mill apart then you can’t believe that this won’t get done. Drew Brees has now been offered deals that would make him the highest paid per year in the NFL (twice – last year and now). I am a Saints fan and a Brees fan and when it get’s done all’s well that ends well but let’s stop assuming that the Org (who has taken care of most of it’s players throughout the Loomis era) is “jerking” it’s best player around. Maybe the jerk is on the wrong side of the table. Or maybe this is just what it takes to get the best deal possible and still have a team (unlike Indy).

I know Saints fans don’t think this, but once in a while these types of negotiations go south and irreconcilable differences are created and the worst possible scenario plays out. The Saints need to prevent that from happening. No way of knowing until later, but interesting to say the least.

Brees deserves to get paid like the other top QBs; that’s the bottom line.

Maybe Donald Driver can give him a few tips. I’ve heard he does fairly well in the dancing part.
