Crennel not losing sleep over Dwayne Bowe’s absence

Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe isn’t participating in voluntary offseason workouts because he wants a long-term contract. Bowe is sporting a franchise tag, and he’s yet to sign the one-year, $9.515 million tender.

Coach Romeo Crennel isn’t sweating Bowe’s absence.

We’re going to win with whoever we have,” Crennel told the Kansas City Star. “If he’s with us, we’d like that to happen. If he’s not, than we’re going to work with the guys we’ve got here.”

With Jonathan Baldwin battling a migraine and Bowe missing due to contract displeasure, the Chiefs are suddenly shorthanded at wideout. They’re left with Steve Breaston, veteran special teamer Terrance Copper, former running back Dexter McCluster, and a bunch of unheralded receiver prospects.

Bowe has not yet missed any significant practice time, but the Chiefs have a mandatory minicamp that begins on Tuesday, June 12.
