second of all, i think i need to stick up for my boy here. d-hall has always been a talker, most flashy deon-like corners are, especially from VA, theres a LOT of swag in VA. d-hall is absolutely a top tier corner, he didnt make it to the probowl and snatch the probowl mvp for nothing a couple years ago, wasnt drafted in the 1st round for nothing either. granted hes not going to shut down a calvin johnson or even a dez bryant but bump and run isnt his game, he’s a zone guy, he needs to be in space and play a woodson-like role because hes a play maker. id honestly move him to free safety but raheem has a plan. so lets stop bashing the guy cuz you hate that hes got confidence. dude is a ball hawk and likes to get in people’s heads.”

Hall has definitely found a scheme that fits his skill set best in Washington but even so he is not, and never has been, an elite tier CB. He was quite possibley the most overrated defensive player in the league for a few seasons in Atlanta were his vocalness, flashiness and big play ability created alot of buzz and ESPN highlights but he was always one of the most inconsistent CBs in the NFL in Atlanta and got beat deep in man coverage more often than any other “pro bowl” CB I’ve ever seen.

Hall is a pure zone CB, a pure read/react corner who has a good ability to read QB’s tendencies and great quickness to break on the ball but he is also one of the most scheme specific corners in the league. He is a huge liability not only in bump but man coverage of any kind and he can tend to handcuff the versatility and unpredictability of a defense because of that.

Hall is a good veteran zone specific CB—–he is not elite. While I understand where he is coming from wanting to play a similar role as Woodson, its just not realistic unless its a far more watered down version. What has made Woodson so perfect for his role in GB is the fact that he is one of the most versatile CBs in the league. He is a big, physical CB who likes contact and is a very good tackler, hes excellent in a zone read scheme where he can play off QB’s tendencies and read combo routes with the ability to put himself in a position to jump routes and bait QBs pretty routinely. BUT he was also a very talented physical press man corner who could throw off receivers timing and then turn and run stride for stride for them with his back to the QB. That versatility made him so effective for GB lately, and that versatility also made the position he played effective because the opposition never knew what he was going to do—-be it blitz off the edge, sit in a shallow zone, play off man, press man, play a deep zone, move into the box and act as a run stopping safety etc. etc……………Hall isnt that guy

If you actually listen to the whole conversation, Hall was asked about how Raheem Morris is moving the entire secondary through all positions, in order for them to understand each.

Hall was at safety, slot, and he normal position during OTAs. He was speaking to that when he brought up that playing in the slot can be done by someone as formidable and distinguished as Charles Woodson. He compliments Woodson on being able to play a difficult position inside the slot and said that he hoped to be able to make plays like him.

But thanks for creating negative attention during a slow part of the offseason. Proves 90% of the people commenting here just love to hate and troll without fully understanding what was said and in what context. We can thank you for that.

Charles Woodson would never get beat for 150+ yards by a rookie no matter what the scheme.

Hall can get himself a few picks a season and occasionally make a big tackle, but I wouldn’t ever rely on him in man to man in the big games.

He’ll lose you more games than he wins.

Not the next Charles Woodson. And that shows how pathetic this comment really is. You got rookies coming into the NFL being compared to other NFL guys and they say, “I’d love to be as good as him, but I’m just gonna be me”.

Hall is 28 years old, been in the NFL for about a decade. And now he’s telling everybody he’s gonna be the next Charles Woodson?

That’s a sorry individual right there.

I’ve read this article and ones in the DC area, and it seems to me that he said his ROLE will be more like Woodson. Never does he explicitly say he “is the next Charles Woodson.”

GB lead the league in INT’s last year with 31.
NE was second with 23. So yes the DL did suck, but the DB’s must of did something right.
