Florio passed along the news Friday that the St. Louis Rams had finally begun signing draft picks. The Rams got two picks under contract last night, and the plugged-in folks at TurfShowTimes.com report that the team has locked up two more.
Per TST’s Ryan Van Bibber, the Rams have signed seventh-round running back Daryl Richardson and fifth-round offensive lineman Rokevious Watkins.
Richardson is a slightly built if speedy tailback out of Abilene Christian. He will compete for the Rams’ third running back spot behind Steven Jackson and fellow rookie Isaiah Pead.
Watkins is considered a project out of South Carolina. He was the Gamecocks’ starting right tackle, but will kick inside to guard in training camp. Watkins has a legitimate chance to start as a rookie because the Rams have the worst left guard situation in football.
St. Louis now has four members of its ten-man draft class under contract.
