For people that still live in the dark ages by being in denial about the disease of addiction, it’s already been proven as a scientific reality. If you’ve grown up with the disease of addiction in your family, and aren’t aware of how the unspoken rules of living in that type of family impact your thinking, look at people’s comments here. A person that has the disease doesn’t have to be hitting rock bottom, living in the gutter. But the 1st Step is accepting that a person is powerless over alcohol and it makes their life unmanageable. This Step is important because they can’t metabolize alcohol the way people can that don’t have the disease.
So when he says that he won’t drink right now, but then quantifies that he will/can drink later on in life, he’s fooling himself. People who are posting that he can control his drinking are fooling themselves. The pattern of behavior that we’re publicly aware of says otherwise. Who knows what his drinking behavior is like in his private life.

The Jags should be concerned that Blackmon has the ability to blow a .24 blood alcohol. His body has obviously built up a tolerance after being subjected to excessive intake. He needs a dry-out program, quick.
You are quite correct. I was an intoxilyzer oper. and for this guy to be driving and still standing with a BAC of almost .250 means he is an alcoholic and in need of some intervention ASAP.

It won’t happen but I would like to see him get what the average Justin in Fl. would get; 3-6 mo jail, 1 yr. probation, fines/court costs, 100 hrs community service, DUI class, 5 year DL revocation, 1 year ignition interlock when DL reinstated. In addition I hope there is some sort of suspension from the NFL and I hope the Jags only pay him the rookie minimum. Serious consequences for serious offenses.

Sportmentary beat me to it. This happened in Stillwater, Okl and will be up to whatever their laws are and based on what sportmentary said, yeah he better hope to plead down. Although, these athletes and stars always seem to get off easier and away with more. I do think he will lose some money from his contract as well as face a two game suspension still, even though he isn't under contract yet. He was drafted by an NFL team and I think that would be the NFL's arguement i.e. "protecting the shield"

I agree with other commenters people need to call cabs, use the service provided have a personal chauffer etc. With the money all these rich and famous make, there is no reason not to.

re: lolb23 says:Jun 3, 2012 10:58 PM
Maybe someone spiked his drink. That’s the only logical explanation for being that drunk in that short amount of time. No bartender/owner is gonna feed him 15 shots in 2 hours. No way.

Again, some other commenters beat me to this but yeah, try going to the bars around here. I went with my ex-girlfriend (still friends) a few months back. We were there a total of two to three hours, tops before going to another bar. She had 40 shots during that time, so yes bartenders are going to. They are in it to make money in the end of the day and many of them don't care one way or another.

They don't think about the consequences because as one poster said, many bars would be held responsible if someone were killed as a result of their negiligence but they don't always follow those rules and policy. Why would they when they can make a lot of money and tips etc?
Quite honestly though, we are responsible for our own actions and know the difference between right and wrong and are responsible for our own actions and lives. It's about personal responsibility and accountability, but sadly not much of that left in this nation anymore, and maybe not even in the world. Pretty sad if you ask me.

Bro,

For the record, 0.24 is 24/100 of 1% (as in less than 1%) . Not 24%.

Don’t worry about it. You can always get a job as a sports writer. Look at some of the drunks PTF hires. I doubt many of them can operate a calculator, either.

Well call me Michael Bolton for putting a decimal point in the wrong place, I always mess up some kind of mundane detail like that...

Maybe someone spiked his drink. That’s the only logical explanation for being that drunk in that short amount of time. No bartender/owner is gonna feed him 15 shots in 2 hours. No way.
---------------------------------------------------

Bartenders around here won't hesitate to sell you 15 shots in 2 hours.

I know me personally a number of times I've shown up to the bar with like a half hour left in happy hour so I chug 2 long islands and order a 3rd in that span before it goes to full price (That's 15 shots in 30 minutes right there). Then I drank beers until 2am.

Btw I'm not recommending anyone do this lol.

In Oklahoma, the jail sentence for a second conviction of DUI is 1-20 years. He better hope he can plead this down.

I think a 5 year sentence is fitting. He could have killed someone and it was his second DUI (That he was caught).

I hope they throw a book at him.

.24? That’s one quarter of his bloodstream was alcohol. Yea I’ve probably been there myself before, but that’s not good.

Bro,

For the record, 0.24 is 24/100 of 1% (as in less than 1%) . Not 24%.

Don't worry about it. You can always get a job as a sports writer. Look at some of the drunks PTF hires. I doubt many of them can operate a calculator, either.
