Bucs make four roster moves on defensive line

Wallace Gilberry Pic

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers shook up the end of their defensive line depth chart on Monday, signing veteran ends Wallace Gilberry and Jayme Mitchell. They waived rookie defensive tackle Myles Wade and defensive end Hilee Taylor.

Taylor, 25, was signed after a rookie camp tryout. He lacks NFL-caliber pass-rush ability and was trying to make the roster as a special teamer.

Wade, 22, was an undrafted rookie out of Portland State.

Mitchell, 28, looks the part at 6-foot-6, 285 with athletic tools, but he’s never been an effective regular-season game performer. He flopped badly as a starter in Cleveland last season, despite high hopes from G.M. Tom Heckert.

Gilberry (pictured) is 27 years old and just two seasons removed from a seven-sack campaign in Kansas City. We’d give him a decent chance to make the Buccaneers’ final 53, particularly after Da’Quan Bowers’ likely year-ending Achilles’ tear.
