Getty ImagesThe Detroit Lions announced Monday that they have re-signed veteran wide receiver Maurice Stovall.
The 27-year-old Stovall was a third-round pick of the Buccaneers in 2006, after playing his college ball at Notre Dame. Stovall hasn’t panned out as a receiving threat in the pros, but he was a core special teamer in Detroit last season.
Stovall racked up seven special teams tackles in 15 appearances.
He’ll be on the roster bubble in training camp.

Whatever ?! Known entity.
I would like to see Stovall split time with Titus Young!
The guy tore it up during the 2011 preseason, he looks alot like Calvin sometimes.
Why is this even a story, did he pay you?
THE GREAT DETROIT LIONS
Is working on the ST on their to the Super Bowl.
He stinks.
Lions reign stovall?? Championship
When does pft change it’s name? Should be “Mlive”…..
Any time Titus/Broyles aren’t getting, is a detriment to the team. Stovall is a special teamer, and still has to make roster cuts.
I don’t think Schwartz trusts him on offense and thats the reason he didn’t play many snaps and when they did, they never looked his way.
But honestly he could be a good receiving threat if he can demonstrate any sort of soft hands. He’s so tall and Stafford could just throw it up to a spot like he does with Calvin so often and be almost as effective.
Great special teamer.. but dont get your hopes up for this guy catching anything more than the common cold.
Guy is a best every pre-season.
beast, even.
3rd round? I think it was the 8th round.
I know the Lions always need more recievers but spending the little cap money you left on him, unless he converted to CB or SS, doesn’t make sense. However, since he’s a special teamer I understand why they would need him. They must plan on being on the receiving team a lot since their secondary could get torched every drive.
