Packers Super Bowl ring turns up in Chicago drug bust

It appears to be the busy time of the year for stories about Super Bowl rings.

On the heels of news of a Packers employee pawning her ring and Lawrence Taylor’s son selling one of his dad’s to someone other than Charlie Sheen comes word of a Packers ring from Super Bowl XLV turning up in a Chicago drug bust. The Chicago Tribune reports that a ring belonging to a team executive was found along with heroin, weapons and other jewelry seized from members of a Mexican drug trafficking organization arrested in a recent raid.

Lest anyone think that there’s any tie between the Packers and the aforementioned organization, authorities said that the ring was reported stolen by the unnamed executive who received it from the team. They do not know how the ring came to be in the possession of the six men arrested.

We’re waiting with great anticipation to learn where a Super Bowl ring will turn up next. It has all the makings of a great television series to get us through the offseason. We nominate Jeff Fisher to play the grizzled detective who doesn’t think twice about smoking cigars near gasoline pumps.

It’s really sad… those Bears fan who want to see what a Super Bowl ring looks like these days can’t based on their current team….so they have to steal one from the Pack.
Just ask us next time…one of our players can show you one.

I blame Packer management, Packer players and Packer fans for this…..100%. What an embarassment to the NFL this organization is. (Before the Sconi attacks begin, I am of course being facetious by mimicing how Packer fans on here carry themselves and react when any other NFCN team makes the news in any negative way)

  8. contra74 says: Jun 4, 2012 6:35 PM

@ garyman1 – you bought that ‘stolen’ line? Just like how Warren Sapps was ‘stolen’? Child please. Clearly this GB exec used the ring to pay for some blow.

Or, they’ll just sell one to you on the streets of Chicago for some rocks

No surprise you would single out the Vikings out of all the teams in the NFL. Just admit it, you are a closet Viking fan. Either way, thanks for your support.

No way was this a theft, i beleive it was a debt that the executive had to pay, or insurance.

Espn just reported that a UN NAMED SOURCE has proof that the lost ring belongs to a Packers Executive who is the head of the Mexican Drug Cartel……..more details to come

Some druggie who probably burglarized the Packers execs home or apartment traded or sold the ring for some dope or dope $.
This stuff happens everyday just newsworthy cause it’s a SB ring.

  31. mazenblue says: Jun 4, 2012 9:17 PM

The lions like their medical Mary. And the packers, well, like to pack their nose. Obviously this was Sam Hurds connect.

Once the authorities dig a little deeper, this is going to blow the whole Packer organization up. This is going to make the Saints look like My Little Pony. Packers involved in huge drug ring.

    LA Packers here we come.

  34. fusion3450 says: Jun 4, 2012 10:20 PM

Is the GB Packer organization a front to traffic illegal narcotics from Mexico? People, I can’t say for sure either way. I just ask questions. Is Ted Thompson in cahoots with Mexican drug czars? That’s not for me to answer. I’ll leave that to you, the reader. I’m just a patriot who loves my country and has the courage to ask the questions.

Were the Acme Packers established to channell cocaine and marijuana to the heartland? I don’t know, but if you look at the patterns..

America, I just ask the questions that need to be asked. I’m not saying that the franchises entire 90 year history has been a front for Mexican drug cartels, I’m just saying maybe it is and maybe it isn’t. I’m just a patriot who loves his Anerican Football, Apple Pie and Freedom.

  38. tonymandrich says: Jun 4, 2012 11:29 PM

All da bears fans claiming Packers have ties to Mexican drug cartels…I do see the parallels seeing as we have been brutally murdering the division since ’92…can’t wait for bear hunting season this fall!

There was a team executive who resigned due to his addiction to an herbal remedy used to treat his sleep apnea.

Really? A resignation instead of a leave of absence? One has to wonder if there was a whole lot more to the story than we were led to believe.

I’d rather pay for a “worthless” piece of paper every other decade than have my team held hostage by an Art Modell type…. plus, my non packer fan family members don’t have to pay a tax to fund a billionaire’s stadium.

lolb23…I have to thank you for entertaining me this evening. I’m familiar w/enough chi and minn fans to be entertained by stupid often. However, that whole “packer org blow up” babbling of yours is that special kind of stupid i just don’t get to see every day. Yes, all those logical conclusions you guys have arrived at about the ring being payments for drugs are certain to destroy the team because it just had to be as you stated. No way an executive would just pay for his drugs in cash when he can leave a potential trail. It’s one thing to say stuff like that to provoke-it’s easy to ignore, but like i said when your blessed to be in the presence of that special kind of stupid-you just have to acknowledge
