Packers Super Bowl ring turns up in Chicago drug bust

Jarrett+Bush+2011+ESPY+Awards+Arrivals+GS2vlIx-MZMl

It appears to be the busy time of the year for stories about Super Bowl rings.

On the heels of news of a Packers employee pawning her ring and Lawrence Taylor’s son selling one of his dad’s to someone other than Charlie Sheen comes word of a Packers ring from Super Bowl XLV turning up in a Chicago drug bust. The Chicago Tribune reports that a ring belonging to a team executive was found along with heroin, weapons and other jewelry seized from members of a Mexican drug trafficking organization arrested in a recent raid.

Lest anyone think that there’s any tie between the Packers and the aforementioned organization, authorities said that the ring was reported stolen by the unnamed executive who received it from the team. They do not know how the ring came to be in the possession of the six men arrested.

We’re waiting with great anticipation to learn where a Super Bowl ring will turn up next. It has all the makings of a great television series to get us through the offseason. We nominate Jeff Fisher to play the grizzled detective who doesn’t think twice about smoking cigars near gasoline pumps.
