As Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis continues to be coy about whether he will report to training camp or hold out for a new contract, one thing is clear: Revis doesn’t care what the fans think.
On Twitter, when a fan called Revis out and used an obscenity to tell him the fans will be done with him if he holds out again this year, Revis’s answer was two words long: “shut up.”
Revis also told Gary Myers of the New York Daily News that he’s not concerned about any backlash because he doesn’t think the backlash could get any worse than it got during training camp in 2010, when Revis stood his ground, refused to report, and ultimately was rewarded with a new four-year contract.
“I was getting death threats and everything,” Revis said of the reaction to his 2010 holdout. “I’m getting stuff now on Twitter.”
That stuff isn’t the kind of stuff that will influence Revis to report to training camp on time and under his current contract. Revis recently referred to himself as “a corporation,” and he’s going to make a business decision.
