The Packers moved on from Kampman because he couldn’t play 3-4 LB in Capers defense. He was a great 4-3 DE though. Hopefully, he can catch on somewhere but I wouldn’t expect that to be in Green Bay.

Considering Avril has had 1 awesome year and is nowhere near the top play at his position *WHY* exactly should he be paid as if he is again? Let’s look at your stain ER, squad, Forte was over 80% of your offense and is in the discussion of best RBs in the game [unlike Avril] all while not demanding top position pay…and what does the bears do to in return? They take PR shots at him and talk about his knees and how they’re in fear he wont hold up. Ever think he belives perhaps Cutler will never be a real QB and since he’ll never win a ring in Chitcago he might as well get paid there? OH YEAH, there’s one other difference, you’d NEVER say “Okay, see ya Matt” and turn your backs where as with Avril, Lewand and Mayhew will NOT bend.

Sad, really, when you consider Urlacher, peppers and Briggs are all getting up there…and this could very well be Urlacher’s last year in Chitcago, as he has to know be it money or chances at a ring, the chances of getting EITHER are greater outside of Chitcago. What a shame – his son was in my son’s first grade class, and Aaron was both a great father and great person. While he was rehabbing his knee injury, he taught leadership classes at a local high school. Too bad the knee injuries are going to keep such a good character man off this team.

At some point, most players’ bodies reach a point where it can’t take anymore punishment. Unfortunately, it looks like this guy’s knees just can’t take it. Maybe he should retire…walk away while he still can.

Ask the people in that little town in Iowa where he was raised what they think of Kampman. When the city was devastated by a tornado, Aaron was there with his sweat and $$$. He’s a home town hero. And he’ll always be a hero in Green Bay.

Well at least he can take the 4.975 million he was going to make as his one time termination pay, thats a nice consolation prize.

Always liked Kampman hes a good guy and was good player for the Pack. He came into the league out of Iowa as a 5th round pick, played 8 seasons and tallied 54 sacks and when he left in FA GB got a 4th round comp pick for him.

Aaron Kampman has come into some real bad luck lately, Its terrible. While in Green Bay he had some pretty solid seasons, since leaving not one but two injuries both ACL’s…
Something tells me he should of never left Wisconsin.

That’s sad to hear. AK74 was a great teammate in Green Bay. Kept his mouth shut, let his play do the talking. Hopefully he can catch on with another franchise and produce a few more productive (and healthy) seasons.

If not, he’s still a Packer for life.

What a waste of good money. He was supposed to be one of the biggest free agent acquisitions that year. He only managed 4 sacks.

It’d be interesting to see if he ended up back in Green Bay as a role player.
