Dez Bryant thinks Justin Blackmon is a great guy

Before the draft, Warren Moon made a pretty harsh comparison between former Oklahoma State wide receivers Justin Blackmon and Dez Bryant.

According to Moon, Blackmon was Bryant “with all his brain cells” and not a “knucklehead” like the Cowboys receiver. Moon’s evaluation took a pretty big hit over the weekend when Blackmon was arrested for aggravated DUI, his second run-in with the law for driving after imbibing. Blackmon’s first arrest came after watching Bryant face the Giants in a Monday night game at Cowboys Stadium.

We haven’t heard from Moon since the arrest, but Bryant is still in the Jaguars receiver’s corner. Bryant told Jon Machota of that he thinks Blackmon will get through this period.

“He’s a great guy,” Bryant said. “If you knew him, you’d be like, ‘I can’t believe it.’ It’s just a lesson that he’s going to have to learn. I feel like he’s going to get through it. I know he is, just because of the type of guy he is. I wish the best for him, and I know he’s going to come through and bounce back and do what he needs to do.”

Bryant has had issues with unpaid bills and he was banned from a Dallas mall for wearing his jeans too low, but he doesn’t have a criminal record. He’s still hearing calls that he needs to mature, though, and offered a last piece of advice to Blackmon on that front.

“Some guys make the right decisions, some guys make the wrong ones,” Bryant said. “When you make a wrong decision it’s your choice if you want to learn from it or not.”

    Dez’s Talent > Blackmon’s Talent
    Blackmon’s legal issues > Dez’s legal issues

I’ll take Dez, and I think most NFL teams would agree (save maybe the Bengals/Lions)

Not the ringing endorsement I’d like to see for my teams first rounder. I just hope Vick keeps his opinion of Gabbert to himself.

    Blackmon=Who knows

When Dez says you make bad choices, its time to look a little harder in the mirror.

Of course he thinks Blackmon is a “great guy.” Coincidentally, Bryant is as much of a low-life as Blackmon. Without football, they would both be total losers.

Blackmon made a don’t define him as a human being. Our mistakes are our greatest teacher, without them, ignorance would be the norm! I’m a Bronco fan, & not a Jag fan. But he will be fine.

Put these two together and they might blow a 0.5

I don’t understand why this article was written in a negative tone. I think what Bryant is saying is quite valid. I totally agree, “Some guys make the right decisions, some guys make the wrong ones,” Bryant said. “When you make a wrong decision it’s your choice if you want to learn from it or not.”

Man that is life. Some of these young men have to learn for themselves. If either one keeps doing it then we can be negative but Blackmon just got into the league. Maybe he will grow up… Lets give these kids a chance.

Hey Warren, would you get back to us with what you think of Blackmon’s .24 DUI?

  14. dgbk says: Jun 8, 2012 10:50 AM

Moon’s comments always came across as silly.. Bryant might not be the best with money but he has done nothing to warrant most of the backlash he gets….. I hope Blackmon fixes his issues will be a waste of talent if he dont.

Who cares about Moon and what he says? I’ve met him in Public, he’s a drunk racist himself. Blackmon and Bryant are going to both be top 10 if not 5 receivers.

seahulk9 – it is well known in the NW moon is a drunk. google his dui record. plus if you get close to people at UW or the seahawks there are numerous stories of his “overindulgence”. and yes he is a racist, listen to his analysis – he always favors african american athletes over all other races. he got screwed by the nfl out of college – but he won’t let it go. there is a reason an articulate, intelligent african american can’t get a good money analyst gig with a major network – because he is a drunk, racist, a-hole….

Dez Bryant was interviewed while eating a soft pretzel in front of an Orange Julius.
