Dez Bryant thinks Justin Blackmon is a great guy

Before the draft, Warren Moon made a pretty harsh comparison between former Oklahoma State wide receivers Justin Blackmon and Dez Bryant.

According to Moon, Blackmon was Bryant “with all his brain cells” and not a “knucklehead” like the Cowboys receiver. Moon’s evaluation took a pretty big hit over the weekend when Blackmon was arrested for aggravated DUI, his second run-in with the law for driving after imbibing. Blackmon’s first arrest came after watching Bryant face the Giants in a Monday night game at Cowboys Stadium.

We haven’t heard from Moon since the arrest, but Bryant is still in the Jaguars receiver’s corner. Bryant told Jon Machota of FOXSportsSouthwest.com that he thinks Blackmon will get through this period.

“He’s a great guy,” Bryant said. “If you knew him, you’d be like, ‘I can’t believe it.’ It’s just a lesson that he’s going to have to learn. I feel like he’s going to get through it. I know he is, just because of the type of guy he is. I wish the best for him, and I know he’s going to come through and bounce back and do what he needs to do.”

Bryant has had issues with unpaid bills and he was banned from a Dallas mall for wearing his jeans too low, but he doesn’t have a criminal record. He’s still hearing calls that he needs to mature, though, and offered a last piece of advice to Blackmon on that front.

“Some guys make the right decisions, some guys make the wrong ones,” Bryant said. “When you make a wrong decision it’s your choice if you want to learn from it or not.”
