Delmas on Titus Young: “Me and him are like best friends now”

Lions receiver Titus Young was temporarily suspended from OTAs late last month, allegedly for sucker punching teammate Louis Delmas, the team’s starting free safety. Young was allowed to resume practicing after roughly one week, and recently suggested he’s now on good terms with Delmas.

From a Lions locker-room perspective, though, it wouldn’t matter if Young believes he’s cool with Delmas. It matters if Delmas is cool with Young. Delmas confirmed the two have made up in a Saturday interview with Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

“That’s my boy,” Delmas said. “Me and him are like best friends now at the end of the day.”

Meanwhile, reports out of Lions spring practices are that Young has been on an absolute tear. Anwar Richardson of MLive.com tweeted last Monday that “nobody can defend” Young on the practice field, and later wrote that Young is “starting to look like a 1,000-yard receiver.”

So that’s how you make friends!

Wonder if it works for finding girlfriends…

Time to “hit” a speed dating event to test.

“Nobody can defend” and “Young is starting to look a 1000 yard receiver”

Well he is practicing against the Lions secondary.

While I highly doubt these guys are “like best friends,” this is a smart move by Delmas to try and put this story to bed. This is a young team on the rise and they can’t afford any more distractions. We’re barely into June and there’s way too much bad publicity surrounding this organization.

*This squad could use a few key veterans to show these young punks how to carry themselves on and off the field, perhaps smack a kid upside the head if he’s actin’ a fool.

It is somewhat easy to have a “1,000 yard receiver” when you’re facing the lions secondary.

I believe it, the one time I ever got into a fight at school was with my best friend. When we walked into the principle’s office afterwards, she looked at us, shook her head and told us to “go back to class.” It never happened again and nothing changed between us. While these are grown men, there are just somethings your friends can say to you that are much worse because they are your friends. Chalk it up to two competitive individuals in a testosterone filled situation.

Like, Louis, if he is your best friend at the end of the day, that’s like, O.K., man. There’s like, nothing wrong with that.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

WELL, they have been playful since Titus got back…all is good

    This team is a joke.

They may be all good, but every time the team is in full contact drills, if the ball comes to TY and Delmas is there, he will knock the hell out of him with a hit so clean it’ll squeak.

It’s easy, and mildly clever, to make cracks on the Lions’ secondary in reference to Titus Young’s play in the OTA’s, but the truth is Detroit finished 22, NOT LAST, in Passing D. Also they had a outbreak of injuries down the stretch and patched it together. The teams rated lower included the Packers, Saints and both SB participants. So, not too shabby.

You guys never got mad at your friends playin sports before and got a little rough? It happens. I headbutted my best friend off the couch one time.

That’s called Louis being a leader! Good for you, and makes me feel better about the Lions D. Still a loooong way to go. At least they are in the right direction to clean up a horrid offseason. Hate away if you must, but that’s the right thing to say.

Pride comes before the fall. I use to be a huge Steelers’ fan, but arrogant fans such as this just grows my dislike of the team. Rooney’s are class—fans not so much.

And PS, the Lions joke of the team beat the Broncos 45 – 10 last season in Denver, while the Steelers choked one away at Mile High in OT to Tebow. So, who’s the joke?

Titus young is goin to be a great player for years to come.

  18. sleepyjordan says: Jun 9, 2012 7:59 PM

At least they have a competitive spirit. So many players go through the motions in OTA’s.

  19. nobby821 says: Jun 9, 2012 8:06 PM

I wonder if they’re only putting a nickel corner on Young in practice and triple teaming Johnson to simulate real life…

  20. jgreeds says: Jun 9, 2012 9:12 PM

I really can’t believe that nobody has commented on his grammar.

Also, Young is definitely a fantasy pick up this season.

Whoever says the Lions secondary stinks doesn’t know football. period. go watch soccer. We were a top 10 pass D last year before injuries decimated us.

  22. cannonballdookie says: Jun 9, 2012 9:38 PM

People who believed this would be an issue all season know absolutely nothing about organized sports. So they got into a fight in a heated practice, so what? They are men and will be over it soon enough. I guarantee this will be an afterthought once the season started.

LOL. I see the humor in that. It is funny, really is. But it just ain’t really that way and I know you know that, that’s why you’re funny.

    THE GREAT DETROIT LIONS
The team and their best players are together.

  25. patsaintsbroncoscheat says: Jun 10, 2012 1:19 AM

Doesn’t matter. Both are over rated. Lions will be lucky to finish second in the NFC North. They shot their load prematurely which I hear is a real problem in Detroit.

  26. kappy32 says: Jun 10, 2012 4:54 AM

Seriously? A 1,000 yard receiver? Too bad football isn’t played in shorts & shoulder pads. Let me see him do something in September – January (the Lions will never play in February), not in June during OTAs before I coronate him as MegaTron 2.0.

Every notice how some teams are an exact reflection of the city where they play?
