Roethlisberger announces that he’ll be a father

Ben Roethlisberger, Charlie Batch AP

Different quarterbacks handle paternity differently.  Peyton Manning was ultra-secretive about his twin girls.  Eli was the same, to a lesser extent.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, however, has made it publicly known that his wife is expecting their first child.

Roethlisberger made the declaration on his website.  “It is truly a blessing and we are so excited!” Roethlisberger said, managing to use not one but two of Tim Tebow’s favorite words.

The baby is due to arrive later this year.  Since football season also starts later this year, things could get interesting if his wife goes into labor on the day of a game.

Big Ben jr on the way?? Congrats……..

By the looks of the jersey in that photo, it appears Pittsburgh is attempting to plug the holes in its offensive line with the only QB, short of Jared Lorenzen, that fits the unique physical requirements of the position.

    Little Ben or Benadette ???

  6. bluefan204 says: Jun 9, 2012 7:21 PM

    Wonder who the mother is…

Better yet, I wonder if Ben knows who the mother is. He seems to get around

It’s easy to poke at Big Ben with jokes about his past, but maybe the guy is growing up. A kid can do that to you.

    That’s awesome.

I’ve always been of the camp that if you have a family emergency on game day, skip the game.

Shallow end of the gene pool.

  13. jerrysandusky1 says: Jun 9, 2012 7:48 PM

some kids get tattoos to rebel against their parents. some kids smoke cigarettes to get back. This kid will be a Raven fan in order to shame it’s father.

1 kid to go along witty the other 3 he doesn’t talk about? Lol.

  15. watermelon1 says: Jun 9, 2012 8:22 PM

I have no idea who the mother is, but I think we can all agree that this child is better off if it gets it’s looks from that side of the family.

Will Ben Roethlisberger’s wife go into labor during a game? I haven’t checked, but I bet you can get odds in Vegas.

  17. Deb says: Jun 9, 2012 9:52 PM

Congrats to the Roethlisbergers. So many of my friends seem to schedule their deliveries rather than waiting for nature’s call. Maybe Mr. & Mrs. Big Ben will schedule theirs for some quiet afternoon when the Steelers aren’t playing. Just a friendly suggestion …

I wonder if it was hard for him to freely admit he is having a kid since his instincts have told him to deny, deny, deny for so long.

  19. richmondhokie says: Jun 9, 2012 10:11 PM

He’ll “be” a father? He already IS a father. Good for the two of them!

  20. mcqphx says: Jun 9, 2012 10:37 PM

Assuming he married someone with similar values, is it even his?

  21. ampatsisahypocrite says: Jun 10, 2012 2:16 AM

The biggest babies are the whiny little morons who assumed he was ever guilty of anything.

  22. bluemist says: Jun 10, 2012 3:55 AM

And so continues his “changed man” PR campaign … church, marriage, baby.

  23. iluvbears says: Jun 10, 2012 7:45 AM

Which of his assault victims is the mother?

  24. randallflagg52 says: Jun 10, 2012 8:31 AM

This guy is a massive tool. Can’t wait for him to get owned by Flacco again.

    Ravens > Steelers. Anyday, allday.

  25. rxv5854 says: Jun 10, 2012 8:47 AM

He should name him Anakin, since he was conceived by the force.

  26. chill1184 says: Jun 10, 2012 9:41 AM

    Congrads to Big Ben

    Lets Go Steelers!

  27. ravenator says: Jun 10, 2012 10:03 AM

Wonder what Ben and the Steeler fans say when the Ravens sweep these clowns, again.

  28. vasteelerfan says: Jun 10, 2012 10:32 AM

Still rent free in ravenators tiny head. Be cool let Ben enjoy this proud moment as your test tube creators probably did

  29. nepaseahawk says: Jun 10, 2012 10:32 AM

    (just kiddin ben)

  30. antibenapalooza says: Jun 10, 2012 11:29 AM

I feel sorry for the kid. Daddy comes with a lot of baggage.

  31. jjbadd says: Jun 10, 2012 11:31 AM

To the poster that wishes he has twin girls, and something bad happens to them..you need to come down South & say that out loud! That’s an awful thing to say about anyone’s children..even Ben’s..even if he was guilty. That comment is about as bad as “jerrysandusky1″s username.

  32. rjmcoltsfan says: Jun 10, 2012 3:26 PM

You need to correct your info – Peyton does not have twin girls – he has a boy and girl (twins).

  33. hgl4969 says: Jun 10, 2012 7:04 PM

Congrats to Ben and Ashley! Exciting news for a wonderful couple. Best of luck in the months to come!

  34. lp0320 says: Jun 10, 2012 10:40 PM

ravenator and randallflagg – lots of talk for a team that thinks they are going somewhere next season – lewis is getting older and suggs is going to be out too long to make an impact – this is a story about someone who is going to be a father, not about games. Go count Ray Lewis four kids by four different baby mama’s.

Which of his assault victims is the mother?

    —————————-

Definitely not Andrea McNulty – the “alleged victim” who was on record as saying she hoped she was pregnant — and decided to accuse of assault when he pretty much ignored she ever existed afterwards.

Of course Ben Roethlisberger is the ONLY guy to ever do anything like that.
