Getty ImagesIt’s no surprise to us that the folks who frequent this site seem to enjoy quotes that reflect a significant degree of surprise. From Tiki Barber being flabbergasted to Drew Brees needing an explanation to Shahid Khan being shocked and perplexed to Kevin Demoff most recently being amazed by angst, you like that stuff. And then, when it’s time to post comments, you use that stuff.
Even if it’s slightly past the point where it’s funny.
Here’s another one, courtesy of Cowboys fullback Lawrence Vickers regarding the decision of the Texans to make him one of the players as to whom G.M. Rick Smith had no emotional attachment earlier this year.
“It was a shocker, I was shocked. I was shocked,” Vickers recently said, via Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com. “Then by [Arian] Foster getting his [new] deal I would think there’s more reason you got somebody that’s going to protect him. I guess they just didn’t value the position. I guess that’s what it is.”
So why is Vickers a member of the Cowboys? “[B]ecause they value the position,” Vickers said.
It’s likely more complex than whether a team “values the position.” The question for any player, regardless of position, is driven by the cost of having him versus the perceived benefit he brings to the table. The Texans, after making the assessment, opted to go in a different direction, as to Vickers and Mario Williams and Eric Winston and others.
The Cowboys did the same thing, once Vickers became available and Tony Fiammetta was ignored.
Maybe Fiammetta will eventually chime in with a statement of surprise that will become a staple of PFT commenters.

So what you’re saying is.. Rick Smith gave Vickers the “Shocker?” If this isn’t news, I’m not sure what is.
The “flabbegasted” and “needs an explanation” posts are so inane. Please stop the madness PFT nation!
I was shocked when Cleveland gave up on Vickers, in favor of Owen Marecic. Not one of Heckert’s better decisions.
I wish the Browns had him to run TRich behind…
He was also shocked when Cleveland didn’t resign him. As were we as fans.
But maybe its you Larry and not us. I think most teams have a spot on their roster for a punishing fullback
I think we can add Demarco Murray to our fantasy draft next season
Damn. I thought for sure i was first. Oh well..
I was shocked when he dropped a sure TD pass last year…less so when they let him go
But the biggest question here though, is Tim Tebow still excited?
Fiammetta isn’t going to be “allowed” to comment about anything. He’s a Patriot right now.
