Getty ImagesFor a team with a no-nonsense coach, the Patriots have had their share of reality television stars.
Less than a week after releasing wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, the Pats have signed wideout Jesse Holley.
(Speaking of Ocho, would it be considered kissing up to mention Florio talked about his prospects today?)
Primarily a special teams player, Holley’s most (only?) notable for winning Michael Irvin’s reality show 4th and Long, earning him a shot to go to training camp with the Cowboys in 2009. He spent that year on the practice squad, and he earned time running down kicks in 2010. Holley caught seven passes for 169 yards last season, his only offensive stats.
His new teammate, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, will be featured in an upcoming Fox dating show called The Choice.
That didn’t deter the Patriots from giving him real cash, but Holley’s going to have a much harder time talking Bill Belichick into giving him a rose, or at least a roster spot.

You guys need to quit trying to be comedians and just report the news. Your jokes are terrible.
Good for Jesse. I’m glad that some other team is giving him a chance, since obviously the Cowboys don’t know how to hold onto young talent at this position (see Jimmy Smith, Martellus Bennett, etc.). I hope he does well in New England.
Cowboys, and Niners, fans think he’s most notable for the OT catch to take the ball to the Niners 1 yard line to complete their comeback. Do some research noob.
@ richardewi
You may be the only person to ever refer to Martellus Bennett a “talent”. Btw, he’s a TE not WR. Although with his weight gain he could probably be an OL.
Hopefully Holley can stick around for NE. He was great on special teams for Dallas and made some notable contributions at receiver in their win vs the 49ers. He deserves a chance and it’s not like he’s terrible…
Should have signed T.O to a one year deal
This dude has unbelievable hands and runs good routes. Only knock against him tho is he is not that fast but put that aside, he is a good solid 2 or 3 receiver. Yea he only caught 7 passes last year but all of those passes came in key down and out plays. Being a Cowboys fan, I’m really upset they let him go cause he is good.
Jesse Holley may have began as a reality TV tack-on for the Cowboys, but he improved every year and was always reliable when he got playing time. This past year he had the game-breaking catch against the 49ers and a few key first downs in spot duty. I don’t think I’ve seen him drop a pass in a meaningful game.
So, we’re not allowed to welcome the new guy?
Hey, Darin. You can kiss up to the rest of us by telling the moderators to take a hike. I’m trying to welcome you aboard with a little football talk. But since the moderators don’t know anything about football, I’m being censored as usual.
He should be on Dallas instead of Olgetree. And no Martellius Bennett is a bum and doesn’t deserve to be on an NFL squad. Have fun Giants…
they’re not jokes… just sly funny comments… i like the sense of humor…
Holley for Ochocinco…what’s wrong with that picture? Is Belichick trying to send a message? What’s next another cast-off for Wes Welker!
He’s probably better than stallworth.
Good for Jesse. Was hoping The Boys would bring him back for a chance at the 3rd WR spot and special. He’ll do well with Belichek and Brady.

The Jets said the same thing about Victor Cruz.
We will see Mr. Scoutmaster.
I still can’t believe the Cowboys let him go. What was their general manager thinking? Oh, that’s right, Jerry’s still running the show.
Jesse is cousins with Michael Holley, a Boston radio/tv personality who wrote 2 great books about the Patriots with Belichicks blessing. The two get along well maybe he put in a good word for his cousin
I really like Jesse Holley, and I wish him the best. But for those of you that think he’s a special teams stud, I hope you realize it was his missed block in Week 1 that allowed the Jets to block the punt and take the lead. I know, blaming someone other than Romo for Dallas losing a game isn’t the popular thing to do, but let’s not forget the facts.
Just another training camp body. He will be gone soon enough. The WR roster has to much talent and guys that know the system for a one hit wonder to come in and make an impact. You expect this guy to beat out Edelman slater and stallworth for a bottom of the depth chart spot? Come on guys the roster is pretty much set. It’s to bad everytime we sign a guy who did one good thing somewhere at some time, we jump on the “this guy is a great fit bandwagon” Lets look at reality and actually see this guy has little chance making this squad. Even if he did have one catch in one game that looked good. Heck Bethel Johnson had one catch at one time against seattle and look where he is now.
The kid is a worker. I watched him on that reality show (even though I HATE reality TV) and have followed him since. I was happy for him when he made that big catch against my Niners…..okay… I was POed!…eventually though I was happy for him. Good luck on that crowded roster Jesse Holley.
Jesse Holley is a good football player and even a better person. I still think he should have gotten more looks for the ‘Boys. He was huge in the 49er game. That’s our crappy GM though… keeping garbage Ogletree and getting rid of a real football player in Holley.

That’s cool, didn’t know that. Funny, but when I saw the sidebar on NFLN “Holley to Pats” I thought Michael had finally been hired by them! I love Michael Holley.
