Jason Witten prides himself on never missing offseason work.

But sometimes, civic duty calls.

The Cowboys’ veteran tight end was absent for the start of Tuesday’s workout, because he was called for jury duty.

According to Todd Archer from ESPNDallas.com, Witten was back by noon, and wasn’t subject to a fine for missing work.

Coaches have apparently raved about Witten’s work ethic this offseason, perhaps because he realizes the window could be closing.

Maybe there’s a joke to be made here about staying out of courtrooms and Florio, but I’m still new here, and kind of like it. So I won’t.
